Private Ryan is spectacular at the start but that's just a springboard to a more limited personal story. |

TLD--even with it's historical faults (there were no demolition charges on Pegasus Bridge, etc), and its sense of "violence" was very much of its era (as SPR was/is for its), no other film is so comprehensive, dramatic, works on the large scale and small, and just so bloody entertaining, there really can't be any competition. Nothing like will be made again--at least not without an emphasis on the vital contributions of the LGBTQ Community to ultimate victory. I have the colorized version on DVD, and it's well done, so enjoy! TVAG |

I don't think that I would enjoy a colorized version of The Longest Day as much as the original Black and White film. BW had a documentary feel to it which I liked. I nearly barfed and passed out when I watched the opening minutes of Private Ryan. It was too much blood gore and realism for me. But Imguess that is how war is. |
