This time I tried a format for the AAR that is smartphone-friendly. Let me know if it works for you. Report here.

The AAR was good, images and font were clear. I used my (reasonably) smart Samsung 10e. I couldn't scroll the images though, so I would select each image from the slides at the bottom of the screen. Also, I couldn't use the 'back' arrow; it would just exit.

That works, though if you just tap on an image it goes to the next image, but no simple way of going back.

Glad you liked it. You're the first to tell me. gold star

I'm beginning to realise that the problem with doing Optio AARs is that all the bookkeeping is on the table. That's fine when playing a physical game – one can see the big picture and the detail in a glance – but not so much when showing the game on a screen, where the detail is lost unless you zoom in.

I did it on my PC as well, just to compare. Much better on the smartphone (as expected considering it was optimised for it).

I don't think the book keeping really matters; the movement of the units is still what I look for, not the counters or other markers. In my book, an AAR should explain what is happening anyway and not expect the reader to interpret counters which differ across most games. Your AAR is quite clear in that regard.

Great. A few others grumbled so going forwards I'll do a pdf version for cellphones and stick to the regular format for blog AARs.

Fancy knowing more about Optio?

thanks mate, I have followed your threads and checked out your blog and forum. I think it is a well thought out concept, but I don't know if I have time to learn another ruleset.

Ah, but this isn't another ruleset. This is the ruleset, the one you've spent your life waiting for. The Hour has Come. wink
