I have just been advised that Tony Anderson, the proprietor of Navwar, has died.

I've known him for 50+ years and he will be missed.

That is sad. Also a big loss to the gaming community.

RIP Tony
Purchased most of my Heroics & Ros WWII & Modern armies from him.

That is sad and he will certainly be missed. I'm not the only one who has been a customer for decades. I have had more than a few packs of H&R too but mostly ships, 'thahsands of 'em', and got my most recent order only a few weeks ago.

Aww no. What a sad loss. I too have "thousands of them" but there was always room for more. I was foolishly lulled into thinking he was OK after the recent scare, but I am now regretting that I didn't get round to telling him how much I'd appreciated his products and service. I hope he knew how much he had been a major part of the hobby for such a long time.

That breeze you just felt in your hair was my huge sigh all the way over in California.

RIP Tony, and thanks.

Thanks for letting us know, Elliot.

Very sad news, condolences to family & friends. NavWar has been a constant presence in my wargaming over several decades – ships, of course, but H&R, and rules and books as well.

I didn't know Tony but always received top notch service despite the archaic ordering methods. I made my final order about a year or so ago and its still unopened, will have to open it up and paint those fleets in his honor. Too many of the gamers, vendors and friends in this hobby have left us. Thoughts and prayers to his loved ones, he will be missed.

Very sad news. I've bought a lot of his products in my earlier years…
Thoughts & prayers, and my condolences to his family and friends.

Did anyone know him well enough to produce a full obituary?

This is really sad. I was hoping to renew our acquaintance in a few weeks when I'm back in London. He was always a great bloke and I remember how we would chat about gaming and naval history for hours when I'd stop in and buy 6mm H&R ancients and 1/3000 WWI naval.

RIP Tony (but hopefully someone will take up NavWar and keep it going as his legacy).
