Hi, does anyone have an idea what colour to paint late 1880s Sudanese water bottles? I've painted them steel, but I think it's wrong. Thanks a lot!

Made by Sudanese? Carried by Mahdists? Or worn in Sudan by British or Egyptian soldiers?
