The US & UK hit the Houthis … again … link |

"President Joe Biden and other senior leaders have repeatedly warned that the U.S. won't tolerate the Houthi attacks against commercial shipping." Oh, but they are, and have for several months. These strikes are being coordinated and directed from Iranian ships in the area. After the first attack on a U.S. warship Biden should have given the Iranians 48 hours to get their warships and merchant ships out of the area and then sunk any which remained. |

I think that would be hard to do Inch High, International law would probably call it piracy or some such thing. I think a better solution might be some electronic jamming? Not up on these things, though. |

Command and control assets directing attacks against your ships are legitimate targets. It would be hard for the Iranians or their paid Houti proxies to accuse any other nation of piracy with a straight face, but I'm sure they would try. |

Inch High +1 With the US & UK assets in the theater, if the US had the will, etc. we could take out a lot more if the islamists shoot at us, commercial shipping, etc. etc. Peace Thru Strength … |

"Command and control assets directing attacks against your ships are legitimate targets" That would seem to justify Russian strikes against NATO ISTAR assets in and the Black Sea, so is a card to be played carefully. TBH the best targeting options the Houthis have are visually from the high terrain close to the first, and maritime AIS which discloses just about everything one would need to know |

Again, I'm sure if the US/UK wanted to, many more Houthis and their weapons systems would be … gone … |

Houthis may start to use boat borne attacks on commercial shipping. Too bad commercial vessels can't pack weapons. As was in Somali. Unless that law is no longer in effect ? So, the USN, etc. are going to have to be busy blasting the Houthi boats out of the water. .50cals would be great for that job … link |

A Drone probably made in Iran and launched by the Houthis today hit Israel. Killed one and wounding 10. I'm sure the IDF is planning to do a counter strike. Hope it is a big one. |

Sink the Iranian surveillance vessels. Tell Iran to make the Houthi stop. They are rogue, apparently, but their stuff comes from Iran does it not? An act of war. Or at least an act of piracy. Aggressive defense is justified. |
Legion 4 | 10 Aug 2024 11:07 a.m. PST |
The US has to be much more aggressive when dealing with Iran and the Houthis. Which is more than just sending 2 Carrier Groups and an F-22 Squadron. A show of strength is only good if you actually blow things up and kill the bad guys. However, again, the current US standard of being risk adverse and fearing escalation, is not working. The enemy knows the USA's does not have real wartime leadership. |
