The latest unit off the painting table is a new unit of Imperial Harquebusiers. I have experimented with trying to use those figures in the "shoot the guy next to me" pose. Read the blog post for my exploration of 17th century ride-by-shooting including Caracole – the Spanish Snail! link

Maybe they should be mounted on a circular disc.

I agree with you. I hate firing figures shooting off to the side or at each other. Your elegant solution is the one I also use (a pat on the back for both of us).

@Gordon alive – many thanks. It is an interesting conundrum.

@79thPA – that's another idea for sure – I like Barry H's hex based skirmishers so something else to try there.

@William Warner – glad to know I'm not alone on this :)

Nice!

Thanks for sharing CtG. Always difficult to use the one pose that is perfectly fine when there's just one of them, but not so great when the designer decided to put lots in the pack. Well done on your solution.

Peter Pig's sideways left shooter is thankfully separate from his horse. So if I have 2 to put on a base I mount one on a compact horse, then position him on the edge of the base near the back. The 2nd one goes on a stretched out horse, positioned to the right and slightly in front of the first rider. That way they can both fire to their left without it looking like one is shooting the other.

@Fredrick – thanks!

@KYPD – cheers! Another good solution to the pose. I still wonder if the sculptors realise the challenge they are setting us.

I thought I would wait for you to get some sensible replies before thanking you for getting Steeleye Span's 'Stuck in the Middle with you' going round my brain every time I see your post!

PS: I agree with the above comments on how well you have done that stand of figures!!!

@Herkybird – thanks, and sorry! I am a bit addicted to song titles for blog posts. Stuck in the Middle is a great track. A bit disturbed by the Reservoir Dogs use of the track but there you go.
