…the pier has run into a number of issues, including damage to one of the piers on Saturday as the military tried to move them due to "sea conditions."

The move, attempted overnight Friday, led to a piece of one pier detaching from the line and floated ashore. A U.S. army landing craft mechanized (LCM) tried to rescue the piece and got stuck when a cable wrapped around its propeller – another unforeseen cost…

The Guardian reports there are now two landing craft beached due to bad weather on the Gaza shore. Not clear if this includes the original beached vessel. The Navy, however, insists there are no 'boots on the ground'.

They made them take their boots off. Plausible deniability. 😉

I saw this on the news. That will happen if the tides/surf are a bit too strong and forceful, etc. as noted in the report. And we see what happened to one or two parts of the port, that broke loose. Yes, a bit like Mulberry in WWII, as mentioned here.

Plus, it is the US Army's LCM as reported. The US Army has some of its own boats & ships too. Trained with LCMs a number of times. With the Army & the USN/USMC.

CENTCOM they said they will be continuing to make air resupply. Regardless of the pier, as massive amounts of supplies are needed for the Hamas self-made crisis. Many of their people with die of starvation, etc. As we see like in Somali, the food is not getting to the people who need it. But the warlords there and here the Hamas terrorists are taking what they want.

As a sidebar. Last year, IIRC(?). At the annual D-Day reenactment in Conneaut, OH. About an hour from where I live, we go every year. The surf was too choppy, etc. The Allied reenactors couldn't actually land with the WWII LCMs. They had to hoof it to the beach. One of the LCMs got stuck in the surf, something like we see here in Gaza.

A WWII M3 Stuart and IIRC a WWII USMC Amphtrac and maybe another LCM had to get the LCM back into the water away from the beach. A very interesting recovery operation using WWII vehicles and boat(s).

Regardless, the pier will be repaired, and supplies will be flowing in again. After all it is an election year. And I hope Hamas chokes on the food they took out of their own peoples' mouths. Those will be that many more the IDF does not have to kill…
