Hello everyone, It has been a while, but I am still researching and at times, translating documents. Since I no longer paint, being able to make different uniforms using Paint and Cent jours uniforms website link as my base for new uniforms, has helped give me some peace when my job sometimes is not. Below is the portrait, my attempt at recreating his uniform, service records, actions, and letters from Mr. Bassigny's file found at Base Leonore link
I really enjoyed translating these documents and finding out more about the life of Joseph-Paul Bassigny. The last one gives a ton of detail on his full career. Bassigny would lose his left leg at the Battle of Wagram on July 6, 1809, but this would not stop him from continuing to serve France. In 1815, with his left wooden leg, he became the commander of a National Guard battalion in Fumay, France. He was captured by the Prussians in July and only returned to France in January 1816.
Thank you for looking, Michael |

Superbe! En 1809, les épaulettes d'un sous-lieutenant de carabiniers sont effectivement argent (contrairement à mon dessin), mais avec 2 liserés rouges. theminiaturespage.com
