I thought some of the batteries in Pensacola were manned by Marines as well.

There were 12 gunners of the Royal Marine Artillery with Edward Nicolls. They were commanded by Robert Henry (1793-1850). Back in the UK, he was a Second lieutenant, but he was appointed the local rank of Captain. He was deputized as the Senior Officer at Prospect Bluff, during the absence of Nicolls from December 1814 through January 1815.

This artillery detachment participated in the unsuccessful attack on Fort Bowyer in September 1814. From November 1814 up to May 16, 1815, they remained at Prospect Bluff. On that day, the artillery detachment boarded a troopship, and sailed off, accompanied by Nicolls aboard HMS Forward.

In addition James Lawrence's RMA detachment, about 25 men, were present at New Orleans, then the second attack on Fort Bowyer in February 1815.

The artillery of the 1st and 2nd Royal Marine Battalions embarked Diomede on 30 March, set sail on 7 April, and arrived in Bermuda on 29 May 1813.

It comprised 131 officers and men, four 6-pounder guns, two 8" howitzers, two 5.5" howitzers, two 10" mortars, and a quantity of Congreve rocket launching frames, with associated munitions, all under the command of Captain Thomas Parke.

The artillery of the 3rd Royal Marine Battalion

The Artillery company were issued with knapsacks just prior to their departure. The battalion embarked on 29 March, set sail on 7 April, and disembarked at Bermuda upon arrival on 9 June.

The battalion sailed for the Chesapeake. Just prior to the liaison, a detachment of 12 Royal Marine gunners (with two howitzers and a field piece) and 100 Royal Marine infantry were transferred to accompany Brevet Lieutenant Colonel Edward Nicolls to Florida, where they would remain for the duration of the war.

Sir,
I have to request you will be pleased to lay the inclosed letters from Lt Colonel Williams, before my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, and submit to their Lordships that, I consider it very important, that the whole of the ordnance, Ammunition, Intrenching Tools &c for the use of the artillery and the Battalions, should be placed in the immediate charge of Captain Parke, to arrange them both for Embarkation and for landing so as to prevent the Service being retarded by any irregularity in assorting these; and also that the responsibility may rest with one officer.

I have to request you will be pleased to take their Lordships pleasure, on Lt Colonel Williams's letter (No 2) respecting the Wives and children of the Non Commissioned Officers and soldiers of the Battalions and the artillery, both with regard to their Embarkation, and their being enabled to return to their respective homes; and I submit , that, in addition to this customary allowance adopted in the Line; Lt Colonel Williams's proposition of appropriating a part of the arrears to assist the Wives and Children, will be attended with good effects to the Service.

In reply to the communication from the Honl The Board of Ordnance transmitted by Lieut Gen Barclay I beg leave to stab for his information, that when I suggested it would be expedient that Mortars & their Stores necessary for Battery service should accompany the Battalions, I requested their Lordships should be pleased to state the probable extent to which they might be required, that a requisition might be made accordingly.
I now beg leave to annex a preparation of Stores that will be required for Twelve Guns two 10 in mortars & two 8 in howitzers.
