HMGS-Midwest May Newsletter Greetings my fellow gamers, April had been a wild ride. You would think that after all the planning and prep work we would welcome a respite. Well to be honest we did have a brief one. But while the feedback and experiences were fresh in our minds, we started planning for 2025. This year's Little Wars was our best ever, and we have your trust and confidence, to make 2025 even better. This issue gives you a brief recap of LW 2024, but we then start to look forward. LW 2025's theme will be "Shot heard around the world". Our next event will be Naval Wars, held in Woodstock, we have out a "Call for GMs". Here is a chance to put on you favorite water-based wargame. We also have two major conventions coming up. Orgins and GenCon. Your HMGS-Midwest GMs will be busy supporting these with close to 80 games. This is a good reason to finally check these venues out, if you have not been there in recent times. Finally a Fog of War-Midway event also in Woodstock, and an updated calendar with our weekly/monthly reoccurring games. Have a great summer and please remember Memorial Day. The soldiers we game with, represent someone's father, husband, brother or son. They were certainly worth a period of reflection. Thank you, Kevin link |

As a recent resident of Madison, WI, I am glad to take advantage of this group effort and subscribe to the newsletter, given my longstanding interest in historical miniatures gaming, but I must gripe at how needlessly difficult this was! I failed my first two or three attempts to get subscribed due to those ridiculous "tests" you subject us to to "prove you are human" -- pick out all the buses, pick out all the stairways, etc, in a series of very diffuse and cluttered photographs, and you can't see the images clearly, or you don't know what the definition of "stairs" or "steps" is. If I had this much trouble getting in, imagine how many others simply give up or don't bother? |

I heard a rumor, don't know if it's true… But when you're given a set of photos and then instructed to: pick all the pictures with buses, pick all the pictures with stoplights, pick all the pictures with crosswalks, pick all the pictures with motorcycles, pick all the pictures with etc., etc., etc… you are teaching the AI how to drive. Of course, I'm sure that's just a rumor, the robots aren't really taking over the world, right? Maybe someone should write some Magnus, Robot Fighter 4000 A.D. rules. Anybody remember that comic book? SKREEEEEE! |

piper909-I am not sure what you are referring to. I am not aware of a way to subscribe to this newsletter without being on our mailing list. You can always unsubscribe with the icon at the end. Mailchimp is fairly rigid on our mailing lists. Perhaps you have us confused with some one else? Regardless we are glad to have you. |

Congrats Paul, you were able to figure that part out. For the record, you did not go though all those issues. I added you myself, on April 30th. |
