One of the things to remember when people say we could have starved Japan into submission and that the two atomic bombs were unnecessary. These guys still wanted to continue the war even after all of that. Every day the war continued POWs died in captivity, children and other non-combatants starved, or were under-nourished. It was time to end the war and stop the suffering.

From a miniature perspective it would make an interesting Japanese vs Japanese wargame, seize the recording, kidnap the Emperor, capture the radio station.
