Not physically, of course! We did a couple of games of What a Tanker at our club using my Arab/Israeli variant. If you are interested in seeing how they went please go to this link
Enjoy! |

I've been there (1986). There were still blasted out Syrian tanks leftover from the war, which remain as memorials for the Israelis and reminders for the heads of Syria not to try that again. The area is also covered with piles of small, white rocks. I was told these were the remnants of buildings which the IDF pounded repeatedly so that nobody would ever be able to hide a tank behind ‘em again. They were very thorough— you might be able to hide one of your scale model tanks among the stones… emphasis on "might." But that's about it. Fun looking game! I should also say that I enjoy your reports— very easy to follow. I'm wondering if your AI would work with other rule. I don't have What a Tanker, but I do have Tanks! from Gale Force 9/Battlefront (based on Flames of War, I think). |

As said got this () close to getting tanks to play WAT but didn't. Should look into it again at Historicon |

Thanks guys! I agree, I think WaT is probably an ideal game for a convention. I too have been to Israel on several holidays, and the Golan. You are right (Parzival) about the remains of the war the Israelis keep. I especially remember 3 multicoloured SU-100s by a road kept for chidren to play on…! |

With just a few tanks per side you can play What A Tanker, Achtung Panzer and World of Tanks from Gale Force 9. WoT is a silly buckets of dice game, perfect as a fill in game. WaT and AP seem two takes on the same game – you command one or two tanks tracking ammo, turning your turret, buttoning up or not. All 3 play great in 15mm (our preferred scale) and we already have loads of 15mm tanks….you can easily pick up Flames of War tanks, painted, cheap on Ebay these days. |

If you can find them these days, Zvezda makes 1:100 plastic model tanks that are indeed 15mm, and are generally cheap. My only tanks are from the GF9 Tanks! boxed game ($25 when I got it), which had one Panzer (with two possible configurations) and two Shermans. So not what one would use for Arab-Israeli war gaming, but not a bad deal. There other tanks, however, are overpriced. |

It looks like a very interesting game, Herkybird. |

Thanks again, #Captain Pete, it is indeed, one of the main things that keeps me interested in this game is the way it immerses you in what the tank crew are doing. I find it easy to rationalise what the command die rolls are saying. Great games! |

My wanting to get into WaT was to have a small game without 2000 figures needed on the board. Really thinking a Girls und Panzer type, |
