Our Operation Martlet campaign for Chain of Command continues and we reach the penultimate game of the campaign. Having stopped the German counterattacks the British now look to return to the offensive and salvage something from the campaign. For this game we return to St Nicholas farm, the scene of much action already. The full report is here Operation Martlet: Return to St Nicholas

Thanks for your report, and the effort to provide such high quality pieces! This shows how these CoC dice can be a potent asset. Ending the turn, and the smoke, started a cataclysmic deterioration of your situation. Best of luck for the last game! |

Beautiful photographs of beautiful models and terrain, and a really interesting and well written narrative. However, while I think I can understand CoC related jargon like "overwatch" or "patrol phase", statements like, "The German command roll is 66554 and while it adds useful CoC points and a double phase it offers little for deployment. The following roll is 53331 and that gives the Germans a much better opportunity" means absolutely nothing to me. We aren't being told dice rolls for other aspects of the game. I could understand that the Germans may have had different options each turn but I have no idea why 66554 is worse for deployment than 53331. Perhaps either a bit of explanation of how this works or just the game commentary without the dice rolls would be better. Cheers, John |

Perhaps either a bit of explanation of how this works or just the game commentary without the dice rolls would be better. And there in lies the rub……it's a CoC battle report after all. Many a CoC player would prefer more of those game details to help them learn or follow the game mechanics (and our decisions) in more detail. To be honest there's no solution that suits everyone but given the bulk of the readership know the rules and it's a report about a game using those rules it's always going to carry a bias towards them. |
