The latest release in the Wargames Atlantic gives us mounted Afghan warrior (and three new horse poses). Well detailed and reasonably prices they get the full photo-review here link |

Could these be used for any conflicts or scenarios outside of Afghanistan? Possibly the Russian-Chechen wars in the 1850s (Imam Shamil)? Or the Russian conquest of Central Asia (Turcomans, Khivans, etc.)? Any conflicts with China or the Ottoman Empire? Are their costumes and weapons really unique to Afghanistan/northern India, or could they be used for any irregular cavalry from the Middle East to China? Thank you! |

TBeyer, I'm sure that they could be used in all of the surrounding area over most of the period 1600-1930. Careful searching using Google Images will answer a fair few questions. There were more than a few idiosyncratic styles of dress so you may wish to be careful. They will be used in my collections as generic Eastern Cavalry (my gaming buddies aren't too fussy). |

For that matter, with slight modifications they would work in science fiction settings, from Twilight: 2000 to the Firefly 'Verse. |

Thanks for the answers Anton and Oberlindes Sol LIC, I like the look of these figures but don't intend to set any scenarios in Afghanistan and don't really have any enemies to play against them in that setting, but I do hope to do some Central Asian gaming in the future, maybe even the Russian-Chechen wars and there are not a lot of companies making figures for that! Thanks again! |

One of the mini companies do Russians for the conquest of Samarkand. Interesting colonial period. The WA cav would work for that. |
