If you missed us this year, mark your calendar for 2025. See us during April 24-27, and the Sheraton Lisle, in Naperville, IL

Thanks to everyone who made this a success.

Each year the convention grows in size. This is a good indicator of the great job being done by HMGS-Midwest staff.
Great job guys, and an excellent show.
Hopefully I will have my review up on my blog with links here by the end of the day.
(However I do need to take time to help my neighbor out with his phone.)

Congratulations, Kevin, to you and the whole BOD. The effort you guys put in really shows.

I'm wondering Kevin, what the attendance breakdown in pre-registered vs registered were for those numbers? And how much of an increase on either/both?
The QR code for pre-reg was a fantastic idea.

Excellent job on the WW fundraising.

Do you know if any of the canceled games were canceled due to a lack of players, or were they all canceled because the GM couldn't run them?

kcabai24 Apr 2024 12:10 p.m. PST

Murphy: We had different categories for Pre-reg. Weekends were really high about about 80%, of course 95% GMs, with single days running around 33%. Rough count 75% pre-reg. Best surprise were the 250+ that showed up starting Thursday night.

79PA- Perhaps No show would be a better term. They let us know during the show they could not make it (x3). Or were MIA (x2).

Thanks Kevin…man if you only had five no show games, out of 250…that's amazing.
Good job!

There appeared to be a shortage of players for many of the games on Saturday.

kcabai26 Apr 2024 10:37 a.m. PST

bjporter-Observant of you to notice that. We have been following a trend for the past few years, where Friday seems to be more attended than Saturday Especially in the evenings. Hotel room data backs that up, where we had more reservations for Friday than Saturday.

Conversely Saturday remain the most popular single day to run games. We even looked at GMs running games on multiple days where the Saturday's events were less apt to be sold out.

My gaming buddies and I decided to give Little Wars a try this year in lieu of Historicon. We decided to go back to Little Wars next year. I live on the East Coast, so I will probably swing by Historicon to check out the vendors and flea market.
We prefer Little Wars since we find the gamers more pleasant to game with.

I have been very lucky with the gamers who join in my games at Historicon/Cold Wars and Fall In!

What I have noticed about Saturday evenings is that people that only see each other at Little Wars get together and go out for dinner on Saturday evenings. I have noticed this for a number of years, even back when they were in St Charles.
