In the words of the late, great Harry Caray…"Holy Cow!" Got back from Little Wars last night. FWIW, Gas prices at a BP in Chicago was 4.69 -5.89 a gallon… And Chicago traffic is well…Chicago traffic. But the convention was awesome. Numerous games, good dealers, a pretty decent flea market. Little Wars After Dark, good hotel support, a good raffle, etc. Overall the convention was very VERY positive with good feedback from all of the retailers I talked with, and good feedback from the majority of the gamers, plus the GM's. I'll be doing a write up review for it on my blog and posting the link her later this week. We're already planning on next years convention! |

Great meeting you in person, Murphy! My games went great (though I forgot two boxes of items to go on the table, at least I didn't forget anything critical to the game). My players had a great time. There were some beautiful tables, especially that submarine pen game. I was definitely jealous. I will put up a report of my own with a few pictures (I didn't take many as I was focusing on my own games) when I get a few minutes, but just wanted to back up what Murphy is saying. It was another great show. Congrats to the HMGS Midwest BOD and members for putting on an amazing time. |

Got back yesterday. The trip back for me, for our Euro friends, is 130 miles. No need to get gas. My games were fun and the dealers helped me part with a little money. Lots of photos on the FB page. The only disappointment is a return to the old Lisle location. I also had to marvel that nobody used the parking structure |

I'll be watching for your account, Murphy. I live in flyover country, and I have thought that it would be nice to attend one of the big eastern conventions. Maybe Little Wars has possibilities. . . Grelber |

"The only disappointment is a return to the old Lisle location. I also had to marvel that nobody used the parking structure" I haven't been to the Lisle location. Can you tell me why you are disappointed in it? I didn't notice the parking structure until Friday night when I was leaving to eat at the Bavarian Lodge, (which has good food and a fantastic beer selection). For me, I think the only issue with the hotel was how the refrigerators in the room seemed "hidden", and the little urchins from that youth group that was roaming the halls late at night. That's not the fault of HMGS but the fault of adults not supervising them. |

DBDD, the blog report will be very, VERY picture intensive as I took over 500 pics. I'll have to go through them to get an idea of which ones to use. This will day a couple of days. Signed; Murphy, (AKA: "The guy who IS NOT "Bill"….) |

Tgerritsen, your games looked very well attended my friend and it was good to see you too! Sorry we didn't get a chance to spend much time together. |

I didn't use the parking structure because I didn't really need to. I was able to park right by the front entrance (which made it super easy to move my stuff in and out when running my game). Yeah, Murphy, wish I had a few more minutes to talk with you. Maybe next year. I don't mind the Lisle location, though those rooms don't have refrigerators, so prep for that. |

We just got home an hour ago from Little Wars. We had a great time, fun games, bought some things I couldn't get anywhere else, good looking tables. I've really enjoyed this location. Where what is Lisle? Twelve hour drive each way- no problems. I second the runners in the hallways. Parents watch your kids. I hope to see everyone again next year. |

Can you tell me why you are disappointed in it? It's a longer trip for me There restaurants are not as close Less parking Less gaming space: previously games spilled into the lobby TBH, now that I think about it, there is a Renaissance in Schaumburg with big convention space with a newly open Spring Weekend 😝 |

Murphy, you never buy gas in Chicago proper. You purchase in DuPage County but not around where the convention was. I paid $3.93 USD on Saturday on my way to Little Wars. |

Louis XIV, Adepticon was at The Schaumburg Renaissance a few weeks earlier. But I heard they are moving the convention next year to Milwaukee as they outgrew the Renaissance. |

Glad to have meet you in person Murphy! I too enjoyed the con very much. Hotel was great also. Got my gas in Indiana coming in from Ohio for $3.55 USD. This was my first trip to Little Wars, but will likely be back. My wife's cousin lives 10 minutes away and she made the trip with me to visit. Won a nice prize at the raffle getting the second choice of pick what you want! Kim |

Good times at Little Wars. The ballroom was well lit, easy to move through, and quiet enough to have a good conversation. And I found parking right outside the main doors. What more could I ask for. My games were well attended, although I think my hosting skills are a little rusty. Oh well, on to bigger and better for next year. |

Kids running in halls was from a large group of families for a kid's hockey tournament in the area. I saw them coming into the hotel. Saturday they were running around through the whole hotel outside of gaming area. |

Von Blucher; yeah. The three of us were standing late night in the main hall near the D-Day tables and four of them were wandering around looking at the table and one of them had that "I wanna do something, or take something" look in his eye and kept glancing over at us to see if we were watching. I said to my friends, "Three good kids and one little Eddie Haskell…" He realized that with the eyes on him, that he wasn't going to be able to pull off whatever caper his sordid little head covered by a black beanie was going to concoct for him to do, so they left pretty quickly after. |
