Hi all, have a batch of 1944-1945 German infantry in greatcoats to paint.

Any recommendations for Vallejo (non-airbrush) colors (Name and Number) for
-the greatcoat
-the helmet
-the trousers
-the boots

Thanks

Here's what I use for my late war Germans:

Heer Pattern:
Black or dark brown Primer
XF-65 Fieldgrey (Tamiya) (Coat and soft caps)
72144 Heavy Bluegrey (70)+ 306 Dark Rubber (30)(pants)
70819 Iraqi Sand (Bread Bag)
70995 German Grey (Helmet)
70980 Black Green (Collar and lapel)
70344 White (piping for lapel and collar insignia)
340 Afrika Tank Crew (tent roll) + 70921 Eng Uniform (camo Spots)
70830 Ger. Fieldgrey (gas mask carrier, mess tin and pouch on front)

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Redmist1122.

Some other uniform guides seem to imply that the greatcoat and the pants were the same color…. What do you think? thanks, Dan

Hey Dan,
You're correct…but I like a lil contrast so I would do a a different color the contrast the pants. To be honest there are so many shades of the German uniform, any slight color combo would be fine.

This video will give you a better insight on the different uniform shades:

Hope this helps.

I did the same as the pants. Looking at pictures, there wasn't a ton of difference. Then I used a lighter highlight on the pants to show that they were worn a whole lot more.
