Victrix keeps releasing 1/144 sets for NWE. With today's announcement of the US airborne infantry set, I feel like I'm being railroaded into playing Market Garden. I've been aiming at multi-domain gaming – mixing air, naval, and ground games into mini-campaigns – so my attention has been on theaters like the East front, North Africa, Italy, Guadalcanal, etc. Market Garden is distinctly a ground-only contest, but… it's been on the "maybe someday" list since the 1990s. It was easier to ignore when the path to completion was full of holes and gaps. Now I think Victrix produces all the 1/144 infantry and armor for that campaign range…? This wouldn't be a problem if they'd stop making such nice 1/144 miniatures. - Ix |

It's a conspiracy. Do the periods they want you to do, and there will be movies, books, rules, scenarios and figures. Uncooperative wargamers are still trying to complete their Starship Troopers armies. Or their Squats. |

Well YA, if you highlight the color pic, you'll see slant pockets with snaps on the figure's combat jacket (snapped pockets on the sculpts too). That's not Market Garden, as most of all the US Airborne were then wearing the converted M43 combat uniform with extra cargo pockets sewn on the pants (the M43 had level jacket pockets with flaps). Bur wait, there's more – the figs also have the open lapel collar of the M43 uniform, so you're good to go on the snaps for the Med. thru Normandy (Sicily, Italy, and Normandy mini-campaigns intact), or just paint them green, and go for Market Garden, Bulge, and the Rhineland….sorta Universal Soldiers these ones! :))) |

I'm holding strong…until they do North Africa. I'd love some better sculpted infantry. |

Not to be picky, however, when did U.S. airborne officers start to use revolvers instead of the .45 automatic? What look to be English revolvers, at that. |

Darkhorsehobbies.com besides carrying the Pendraken line, also carries Victrix 1/144th line. They also will begin carrying the AIM line of WWII 3D prints and their first metal 1/144th tanks, PzKfw III E- early F, Late F, G and H. Masters received yesterday and production molds should be done next month. 1/144th really needs more infantry, arty, misc figures out there to buy. I really like the looks of the new Victrix US Paras. The ONLY ones I know of that have a rifle grenadier for your squads as practiced by the US Army since before the war.(The guy in the squad who had the grenade launcher was also the best shot in the squad and was also doing double duty as a sniper, too!) I, too, hope someone does some North African grunts soon! Open season for Germans, Italians, British and Americans. My US 105mm Howitzers and 57mm/3 inch AT guns need crews! |

I am with Schogun. Would love for Victrix to do Afrika Korps, 8th Army and Italian infantry! Also echo Tom's call things like crew packs. |

Not to be picky, however, when did U.S. airborne officers start to use revolvers instead of the .45 automatic? Bothers me as well. My guess is they told the sculptor to do a "Colt 45" or a "45 Colt" and not knowing… I suppose one can remove the pistol from the figure but seems a basic item they should have gotten right. |

Victrix North Africa Brits advancing - link Discussion on the Victrix FB page about the inaccuracy of the bayonet on the LE No. 4 Mk. I (it was a short spike-style bayonet instead), but more importantly, the general issue of the earlier No.1 Mk. III being common for most of the Desert War. (I think there's need for another QA job at the company most pronto) |
