The game proved to be enjoyable. The Prussian assault into the expansive woods turned into a calamity, as the superior French rifle fire halted their advance and compelled them to retreat. Although the Prussians managed to seize the farm complex at the center, their forces were depleted and unable to proceed further. Meanwhile, on the French left flank, a French brigade advanced into the town situated on the Prussian right flank, only to encounter the entire arriving Prussian 22nd Division. This destroyed the French left flank as the 22nd Division closed in.
