new example of a Russian 'turtle tank' with a shed-like metal cover on top to help protect against drone attacks, especially by highly maneuverable first-person view (FPV) kamikaze types, has emerged on the battlefield. Three of these field-modified monstrosities have now appeared just in the past week or so, and this one looks to have the largest covering seen to date. This particular example is also equipped with an omni-directional counter-drone electronic warfare jammer with eight antennas, a design that has been increasingly seen on other Russian tanks and armored vehicles.

Interesting, not that long ago it was said how Russia was down to using old almost WW2 vintage tanks and now they have this?

No situational awareness, can't traverse the turret, no camo, and I bet it gets hot in there in the summer.

Lots of T-67s seen on the battlefield lately. And Russian infantry assaulting in Chinese go-carts.

Didn't know the Russians were using PRC AFVs ? But it makes sense, Xi is a buddy of Vlad …

Watched one of these today leading several other tanks in an attack on what looked to be a fairly large town/small city. Almost everything was shooting at it and not at the other vehicles. It seemed to run the gauntlet of artillery and other fire, but suffered no ill effects. Things like this, the drone jammers, and the re-appearance of the Russian Air Force is resulting in small, but steady gains across the front. I was surprised that not one ATGM was fired at it, so maybe the front line defenses are running low?

There are conflicting reports. I heard someone else saying we're suddenly getting more ATGM videos, suggesting more Stugnas were available.

Denys Davidov claimed the blyat-tank was eliminated by artillery strike after it withdrew.

Not AFVs. Little, unarmored, open, all-terrain vehicles from China. They were originally being used to transport supplies to the front, but lately they've been used as troop carriers.

Oh, I didn't realize they were unarmored. Maybe I was thinking of another vehicle … old fart

Yeah I was thinking of a Type 63 APC … DOH !!!

Not to mention really high and wide profile. Also, driving around in a forest might be tricky, as hitting a tree might knock off the protection (already an issue with WWII German side skirts). Probably does not help with bailing out in an emergency, either.

Adding camo probably would not be too difficult, given some time and supplies. Looking at the pictures, these seem to have been improvised from roofing metal sheets.

Turret traverse issues could be avoided by bolting the extra protection to the turret itself, rather than the hull. Though this would either result in even bigger profile and/or reduced profile.

On the good side, it might provide some protection from rain…

Looks like "Little Willie."

On the issue of turret traverse I saw it suggested that for one of these abominations the turret was actually broke…. Which makes the inability to traverse the turret moot – but begs the massive question, why the hell wouldn't you send it for rear area repair?

Little Willie.

At this point, the Russians would use that, and other WWI era tanks !

"why the hell wouldn't you send it for rear area repair?"

Nothing that goes to the front ever comes back policy?

This tank is an improvisation. Equipped in a front-line workshop. He successfully completed his task – he delivered a group of attack aircraft directly to a village occupied by the enemy, overcoming the area under fire.
FVP drones are a big problem for both sides. This is one of the possible solutions.

Russia has purchased Chinese Desertcross 1000-3 light SUVs, which are used as transporters in the line of fire. A good machine with high cross-country ability, simple and effective. Similar to the Soviet LUAZ.

Russian storm troopers also use motocross motorcycles to quickly overcome fire zones before contacting the enemy:

While artillery and drones suppress the enemy, the motorcyclists are quickly approaching.

The IDF beat the Russians to it. They already had a "Turtle Tank" … And using it daily …
