In Vietnam I saw a couple of different old propaganda posters (paintings, not photos) with stern looking VC carrying Japanese pole-charge bombs which I'm confident were not an actual thing, but today I saw bit of film with a bunch of VC in a trench, one of whom had a rifle grenade …. I've never heard of such a thing; anybody else? I can't date the film, but the other guys all had AK47s. Might be an interesting thing to incorporate into a game.

They did exist but not as popular as RPG2 and 7.

They tended to be donations from either the Poles or Yugoslavs where they were more popular. Both countries made rifles with barrels specifically made for their attachments. The Poles an AK, the Yugoslavs and SKS.

The charges on poles would have been for braking up wire, kind of an improvised bangalore thing where the pole was to get them further into any entanglements.

As an anti-tank weapon it's pretty much a one way trip for the operator though

Huge amounts of weapons and ordinance were captured from the French and were available to the Communist early in the war. The rifle grenade gave away to the RPG as the war progressed.

When I visited the Chu Chi tunnels outside Saigon, among the various attractions is an B/W film showing heroic VC fighters engaging US Imperialist tanks with rifle grenades. The look to be fired from SKS carbine, but I couldn't quite make the rifles out.
