Not great that this news comes out via the rumor-mill rather than by an official announcement. There are going to be a lot of questions. |

FYI, the event was announced at the online HMGS Membership Meeting in March. Further proof that it pays to attend Membership Meetings. As was stated at the Meeting, HMGS did not want to deter local clubs from running their own Cold Wars substitute events (like Cold Barrage by the HAWKS) nor depress attendance at smaller recent events (like Scrum Con), all of which HMGS supports. Hope to see you there. |

47Ronin, that is a very curious marketing strategy. So based on what you said, they only want to attract current HMGS members who are already gamers. And possibly cadets. Individuals who have the next 5-9 years already charted out for them. Which by the way does not allow for much extraneous free time. Scrum Con was held March 29-30, 2024, I do not think this had decreased their attendance. |

Note that there was, eventually, an official e-mail. I have attended membership meetings. They're a very high price to pay for the information dribbled out. |

A logistical note for anyone planning to attend who isn't familiar with West Point: the Visitors Center is located outside the main gate. The Thayer Hotel is inside the main gate, about 0.7 miles away, so maybe 10 minutes walking distance, unless HMGS is arranging a shuttle. The hotel also sits at the top of a small but steep hill, with a set of stairs for pedestrians that shouldn't be any problem if you're in decent health. The stairs can be a challenge for elderly and/or infirm visitors, but the hotel generally has a golf cart available to run you up or down if needed. |

Is this only for HMGS members? Is there a site with more details? I live near by. |

The History Department at West Point used to have a small gaming convention. My group, The Ambler Gamers, also used to put on demonstration games. That hasn't happened for a while, sadly. |
