The recent reconnaissance game (see the thread in Games design if of interest) was excellent but like all good games thinking about it lasts longer than the game. To run the game effectively we had to invent a new spotting rule. Now you never make a game too simple its no fun, but complexity without rules is even better. So imagine the scene a Super Quiet LUCHS peers round the corner of the road stops and the commander picks up his Thermal imager and scans along the road edges. In the rules he can (lets ignore the actual rules) spot enemy at the edge of the wood. Now of course that's far to simple for me. So its the edge of a trail or road take your pick. What could you have at this edge that would hide something, infantry, small vehicle etc?
Be imaginative just a house or a bit of cutting it's a bit obvious please think out of the box. I don't want it too big, a relatively small object, not too much bigger than a tank at most. If it's different and not beyond my CADDS skill I will make one and use it at a show as well as at home. A link to a picture would be great. Note this post is on the 1/144 board.
It's not something I personally would use at 1/172 scale or more, the battlefields are too small. It may be relevant to 1/300 scale players IF you play at 1 to 1. Challenger did, so it may be of interest to such folk.

Cheers Brian

Lime kilns. Any kind of ruins. Woodyard. Tower. Quarry. All things I've found on walks.

Stills. Duck blinds. Hunting shacks. Near a lake, sometimes building pushed onto the lake for fishing when it freezes. Rusting abandoned vehicles are not uncommon.

Cords of wood cut and left to season?

robert piepenbrink +1 not thought of that one, also like Lime kiln but perhaps a bit big well over 2 stories tall.

Depends on the location of the woods… In Europe, then left overs from WWII, overgrown bunkers, rusting large equipment…
