Valour & Fortitude game #4:
Our group here in San Antonio Texas have been play testing the Valour & Fortitude rules – over the years we have played many rule sets, and decided to adopt these fast play and fun rules for 2024. So far so good. After our fourth game we are starting to understand the mechanics and are enjoying playing Napoleonics again after a number of years not playing.

Rob, Tom Castanos, Grant Johnson, and myself met up at Dragon's Lair Medical Center on Friday for another game of Valour & Fortitude in 15mm. Each player fielded 250 points. Tom brought his Prussians, I played Russians and Rob brought the French.

We tried something new and each player drew a Fate Card each turn, that worked out well since it added a bunch more unknown to each turn.

Both sides advanced towards the center – Grant immediately launched his French heavy cavalry brigade at the Prussian left, his attach stalled as the dice did not go his way and the Prussian light cavalry brigade was able to repulse the charge.

On the allied right flank the French grand battery and Russian guns traded blows firing against the advancing infantry. Both sides took a pounding as the infantry advanced against each other. Rob's French assaulted the allied center and my Russians attached the French flank. Both attacks ran out of steam and suffered and inflicted heavy casualties.

The cavalry battle stabilized for the French and became a standoff. The Prussians and French held their lines and decided not to test the ground between them. The battle was decided as a bloody draw with both sides retiring from the field and claiming victory!

The French: Rob and Grant deploy their French troops.
