German soccer authorities will redesign the number "4" on the country's national jerseys amid claims it resembles a logo used by Nazi paramilitary units…

Nobody caught this ahead of time???

Well, duh. Marketing failure. Maybe they can put divisional insignia on the shoulders.

Greylegion02 Apr 2024 11:14 a.m. PST

Yup. Not a good look for that country's athletic organizations.

Gotta do a redo.

There have been a number of issues with major league uniforms and fan gear put out by Fanatics as of late here in North America. There has been speculation that there is no quality control or quality review by humans that might catch such issues because everything is now being done through AI.

Someone in Adidas needs their eye's testing.

Particularly as the further away you get the more Rune like the numbers appear. High up in the stands #44 would have been more than a little embarrassing!

So all this time they weren't the SS after all? They were actually the ‘44'?

Deucey, yes, revisionist history strikes again.

Their doing it all wrong. They should make all of the other numbers look like 'pre-modern military insignia from a specific European country'. Just to watch the world lose it's mind. Oh, wait, we may already be watching that.

I wonder if they teach WWII in German Schools?

DeRuyter03 Apr 2024 10:06 a.m. PST

Well OC it is mandatory as is a visit to a Holocaust site.

A quick search turns up a lot of information, for example:

It was been on the Yahoo news feed all day.
They consider the number 44 the most offensive jersey.

The 44 is not official as no German football (soccer over the Pond) player carries that number.

But many a customer spotted the chance and you can order any number you want on line. Or you could, not now, but many gone out and I do wonder who ordered them.

I guess we know where the marketing geniuses for Bud Light have ended up.

Well that's what happens when you censor your society from its past ;)
