Missed it myself, certainly would have put the flag up.
And reading Triumph Forsaken by Mark Moyar on Vietnam 1954 – 65

I got news yesterday that I wouldn't need a root canal. I'll take that as reason enough to celebrate on Vietnam War Veterans Day. (former member of the "Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club")

Several segments about it was on TV during the past few days.
I am still bitter about the way soldiers were treated coming home.
I marched in the large Birmingham Veterans Day parade in 1972.
During the March, there were eggs thrown at our formation.
Military symbols vandalized including tanks at colleges and NG armories painted pink.

So I just stay home.

It's been over 52 years since I got back and to be honest, I'm not sure I knew there was such a thing.

I didn't get the memo either.

April is "Alcohol Awareness Month", and I will be celebrating that one for sure.

X2 for Wolfhag. I too will be celebrating my awareness of alcohol.

The thing that makes me most aware of alcohol awareness is the crushing hangover the next day. I've found from experience you only get a hangover when you stop drinking.

Thing is, I like the taste of IPA, wine or an Old Fashioned/Manhattan/ Vodka Martini, dry with a twist. I do not drink to forget. I was lucky to avoid the need.

My nightmares (and they are at least twice a week five years after retiring) are about operating lists or clinics in chaos…too like reality five years ago. But it still really gets to me.

Irish genes. Skin cancers+++ but never a hangover. Seriously, never.
