Thanks for sharing. Interesting what if. Nice miniatures, and pictures.
I've played NT for years, and I find it has a good balance between game & simulation : unfortunately, most gamers will prefer simpler rules… I've switched to Sam Mustafa's Nimitz for this reason, which is also quite enjoyable.
I'm now also in the process of writing a campaign for the fall of Java (a few days after your Strait of Makassar what if).

Our group is also a fan of Naval Thunder which in my opinion is not complicated. You want complicated, try SeeKrieg 5. Memory of games played still gives me headaches. We find most of our NT games are done in two hours or less of actual game play.

I'm happy with the complexity of Naval Thunder rules as well, but I accept that people have different requirements. As a result I can see some enjoying more complex mechanics while others prefer simpler mechanics.
