Can anyone enlighten me as to the purpose of the pointed slip on bands on the upper right arms? Are they there to cover up the invasion arm flag?

You do see panels on vehicles and surrounds to white stars on bonnets in that curious yellow colour. Bet the GIs of 29th did not keep them on for very long.
