There is even a holiday dedicated to this national hero and Zulu king, "King Shaka Day", which is celebrated with a ceremony at the memorial near where Shaka died in KwaDukuza. His subjects respectfully called him the big elephant. He lived from 1787 to 1828 and, at the beginning of the 19th century, managed in a very short time to weld together the many different, sometimes quarreling tribes of his home region in what is now KwaZulu Natal…"

It was a terrific series. The scene where the proto-Zulus first actually attacked their enemy rather than go through the ceremonial casting of javelins was very cool. The guy playing Shaka had a great deal of charisma.
