8 of us got together for some Vietnam games this Saturday 16th March.
We played at the Entoyment games shop.
4 VC wins, 1 draw and 3 white star wins.

Ben, Richard, martin, Mike, Stewart, Miles, Andy, Ian + drop ins.

The games lasted about 2 hours each. Thus, most got 3 games done before a 4.00 pm stop. Most players were experienced with the VIETNAM (Men of coy B) rules. There were 3 "new to this game" players.
Games were played in 15mm with players bringing their own figures etc.
I really enjoy games wherein players all contribute to the event.

In my game I took the role of Lt with my platoon. I bought a liaison officer and a bit of gunship support. I landed fine then spread out for a search and destroy operation.
My command team blundered into a village and got jumped by some VC. I very luckily shot my way out of that trap. All was not well. The command team got hit again (!) the following turn whilst the rest of the platoon busied itself with some good searching.
I cleverly(?) called in a gunship to strafe the area by which time most of the the VC had disappeared. Darn.

Not to worry. A sergeant took control of the platoon and directed some more searching. We found some good stuff and destroyed some in situ rice stores.
I called down some artillery but only killed 1 VC base.

Wouldn't you know it; my 2nd squad got ambushed. Then they all got slaughtered.

By the time my platoon got picked up they had been bested. They had lost 5 of their 17 bases. Disaster.

The lesson is not to spread out too much and be "greedy" with villages searched.

The point of this brief missive is that the local games shop is a great place to get together for a bunch of games with a bunch of friends.

A nice day out for all.
Get some Vietnam gaming in.

Sounds interesting. What rules did you use?
