I'm looking for a book covering the US involvement in the Vietnam war and including the lead up and politics – not just battle reports.

Thanks in advance.

Funnily enough, I've just finished his book on the Cuba missile crisis so it may very well be the one to get. Thanks…

There is the documentary – Vietnam: The 10,000 Day War – 1980 – 13 one hour parts – I think it was also released in a book form.

A Bright Shining Lie is also an interesting read – it was turned into a kinda disappointing movie.

Thanks for the input. I've picked up the Hastings book and I'll have a look at the others mentioned.
