Watched the pilot of Apple TV+ "Manhunt" (2024).

I'm interested to know the view of my TMP community?

I haven't watched it yet. But I had a colleague who did and said there is a lot of historical errs and invent. He also said it was woke but I don't know why he said it. Hope to watch it tonight.

Just watched it. Sort of so-so. History is fairly good. Things that were wrong,

Stanton didn't lead the manhunt like he was some police detective. Plus, he had a big beard in real life.

Booth didn't decide to kill Lincoln 10 hours before he did. It was planned for some time. Nor did he kill Lincoln for racist reasons like they imply. Also, he was much more famous than they imply in the show. He was a leading actor of the time.

Lincoln did not want to give land and food and aid to the freed slaves. He believed they should be freed and that was about it.

Biggest thing I found wrong, The government did not believe the war was over because Lee surrendered!!! Man, that bugs me when Hollywood keeps saying that. There were still several Confederate armies in the field and the Federal government believed that the Trans-Mississippi theater would put up strong resistance yet.

I read that Booth's brother, Edwin, was the most prominent in terms of theatrical ability and fame. A consensus seems to be that he was the greatest American actor of the 19th century, with particular note on his Hamlet.

That is true. Plus, his father was also a very famous actor as well.
