Hi, I'm looking for some advice on where I can find any small-scale R-Boats. I'm looking to start a 1943-44 English Channel project, initially considering 1/3000 scale to preserve the sense of distance on a 6x4 table. I can find nearly all the RN and KM ship types I need except for R-Boats, which is surprising considering their prevalence. I bumped up the scale to 1/2400 but still no joy – everything else bar R-Boats. Nothing doing on Shapeways either. I've also researched post-war usage of seized R-Boats by other navies (particularly the Bundesmarine) to see if they were given a different class-name etc. but that's proven a dead-end as well. I know they are available in 1/1250 but that impacts upon my sense of distance requirement, particularly when destroyers become involved. I've tried the main UK suppliers (Navwar / Davco / Mick Yarrow Miniatures etc.) to no avail. Am I overlooking someone? I'd be grateful for any help, pointers or suggestions for proxies etc. |
