Bill, I'll buy a one-year membership if you let UshCha out of the DH early. Wolfhag |

You can't bribe the warden. IMHO, he earned his time let him serve his sentence. |

He did the crime, he deserves the time. His little political hissy fit followed by a personal attack shows, to me, a lack of maturity and self control. But, that's just my impression. |

"Crime ?!". Sorry, I saw only one remark of him: this was about Donald Trump. (the other link did not work for me, I saw no attack at all). It really is beyond me how that remark about FREE UshCha ! |

I seem to always miss the drama as it unfolds. Probably a good thing. |

Yes, we all know UshCha was probably born without the normal social filters the rest of us have but he's harmless, entertaining, informative, and loveable too. UshCha, this video will help you in the course of recovery: YouTube link What say you our Fearless Leader? Will you be magnanimous and show mercy? Wolfhag |

"SNIP" removed about half of my post. Obviously the difference in miles between The Netherlands and Lviv (Ukraine)(800 miles) and Washington DC and Lviv (4660 miles) is enough to forget everything about a Treaty that will be exactly 75 years old in 23 days. |

What say you our Fearless Leader? Will you be magnanimous and show mercy? Is not my magnanimosity already famous throughout the land? It's not like UshCha hasn't been given plenty of chances. |

Is not my magnanimosity already famous throughout the land? Is that why I've been banned from the "Ultramodern Warfare" group for 4+ years? Wolfhag |
Tortorella | 12 Mar 2024 1:09 p.m. PST |
Well, maybe you are better off, Wolfhag! I have just banned myself from there. UshCha did get carried away. But it is not easy to navigate the waters there. His comment has already been partly requoted, minus the obviously wild part. He is indeed guilty. But it's kind of a guilty group sometimes. I would not think a pardon outrageous. There was too much negativity about the US there in my opinion. The posts on things like immigration are pushing the envelope. I will miss some of the military discussions but even these descend into political leadership criticism that generally seemed very one sided and too strident to me. I began to blame the blamers, found myself guilty and summarily expelled myself. I am sure some are glad to see the back of me and maybe I can get my blood pressure back down. |
Tortorella | 12 Mar 2024 1:17 p.m. PST |
And a quick peek at the newest thread confirms my opinion. One sided and politicized, in my opinion. These are difficult times. |

Ah, the latest thread there has drawn a snip! Let the system do its job. Time to get gaming. |

Ultramodern Warfare is a toxic wasteland where people go to vent their frustrations and spout whatever political tripe they think is their truth. Not sure why the comments section for FOX, MSNBC and OAN need to be on a wargaming website other than click bait. Regarding UshCha, I quite enjoy his analysis of the detailed minutia of wargaming. I myself am more of a beer and pretzels fella but I appreciate the discourse of those that like something more granular. |

Bill, your post today on Ultramodern has a paywall and I chose not to join. But I wonder if the Fox article on the West Point mission statement change references some context info. A quick check with another source says: Duty, Honor, Country, which only went into the mission statement in 1998, remains the motto of the Academy. The mission statement has been changed nine times. In this case it was reworded to bind the academy more specifically to the Army as a branch of service. Was this included in theFox article? We are pretty far gone in outrage and maybe it doesn't even matter. Or maybe I just don't get it. The article has drawn negative responses from TMPers, as is their right, thinking it is another serious sign of disrespect and imminent collapse. But it seems there was never any intent to remove these concepts from Army values. If I were to express this over there, I would likely suffer a bunch of slings and arrows as if I, and the Army, and others who may yet be implicated, were intent on undermining the the services and the nation. Outrage would build, we would find our divisions further agitated, institutions and current leaders belittled. I fully acknowledge my own guilt on this. It is this almost inevitable outcome that I think crosses the line on that board. These are difficult times. It feels like the line between TMP and the Blue Fez, which is a specific arena for heated politics, has grown a bit blurred. In my opinion. |

"In this case it was reworded to bind the academy more specifically to the Army as a branch of service." How do the words "Duty, Honor, Country", unbind them to the Army as a branch of service? Especially if West Point is leaving it as the motto at the school. 🤔 With so many things happening with the Army in the world and the failures to make recruiting quotas, why would going over and revising the mission statement, take this high priority? Is not "Duty, Honor, Country", three of the hallmarks that any officer should aspire to? Any soldier? Seems there may be much more involved, when taken along with all the other changes going on with "todays" military. 🤔 But then, maybe it's all just some fluky weird coincidence. |

35th, I am sorry to have blown my cool over some of Nine Pounds posts. You have been there with some other members, I think. I am needing to hear the good things that still prevail in our country. The mission statement was reworded. Frankly, I think it's stronger than ever. It includes just about all the words that I would think make a good cadet and officer, connecting the school and Army language. There was neither intent nor a resulting change that reflects any of the negative judgements made. Martyn's post covers the basics well. My suggestion that some remarks belong on the Blue Fez are not just directed at those on the right. Uscha and Lilian were both saying things that belonged there IMO. I don't even know if I understand them. Every major nation is having recruiting problems. Maybe we don't count Putin. It is a huge demographic issue, not just a social one. But we do not seem to understand how to use a variety of approaches to make serving look like a career choice. The army is well aware of the reasons their target audience gives for not joining. And woke is not the problem. I passed on their extensive survey last year. |

Tort I understand. You know it's not personal. I truly just do not understand the necessity for change. It really just seemed so unnecessary. Take care as always |

Bill, your post today on Ultramodern has a paywall and I chose not to join. It's not a paywall. It seems that (random?) topics there require registration (which is free). Usually those topics are related to celebrities, not military news. |
