A few weeks ago, I finally finished my 10 GHQ Tiger Is. I painted these up as 2nd Company of the 503rd Schwere Abteilung around the time of Kursk and beyond. I will use them whenever I need some Tigers for a game. This was a project that I started several years ago and took a bit too long to get done but I'm happy that they are done.

Here are a few pictures.

Nicely done 👍

The turret numbers look good, impressed with the rings on the barrels and nice wash and weather effects.

You should be proud of those.

Nicely done!

Nice. Those numbers are sweet.

Pete, always liked your Dunkel Gelb color – is it out of the bottle, or a custom-mix?

Beautiful!

Thank you all very much.

Joe – The tactical numbers and the crosses on the side of the tanks are by Flight Deck Decals.

FlyXwire – For my Dunkelgelb, I use Humbrol #83 Dark Yellow with a bit of #34 White added to lighten it up a bit for scale. Humbrol is an enamel of course but I'm sure you can find a cross reference to another brand if you are using acrylics.

Captain Pete: Hunbrol also does acrylics in the squeeze bottles now. Airfix now distributes the line. My old Humbrol acrylics came in plastic tins and they dried up quickly. I am happy to see them in squeeze bottles like other brands.

Pete and Tom, thanks for the info on Humbrols – and sure I've got a few of those dried up tins around here still – but now new acrylics!.

Thanks very much again for all your very nice comments! I appreciate it.

Tom, I have heard about the Humbrol acrylics. I have not used them yet. Currently, I have a good stock of the Humbrol enamels which I plan to use. I do appreciate the heads up though.

I am currently working on some more Panzers for my Afrika Korps. I am filling in a few gaps most notably the Panzer II component but also some short barreled Panzer IVs as well.

A man after my own heart. I did my North Africa Tigers in a light olive. Can't say it's historical but they sure look cool.

Captain Pete31 Dec 2024 7:45 p.m. PST

Thank you very much, Dan! Do you have any pictures of your North Africa, Tigers?

I painted mine in Afrika Korps Sand aka RAL 8020. There is some controversy as to the actual color but I got my reference from one of the illustrations in Tigers in Combat Volume 1.

Here is a picture.

I painted this one plus 4 others plus 4 Panzer IIINs several years ago.
