Many Western movies emphasize rugged individualism in a lawless environment and good triumphing over evil. However, with the arrival of Weird Westerns, the story changed, resulting in an irresistible mash-up of genres. I thoroughly recommend Bone Tomahawk for anyone who has not seen it

"The White Buffalo" was pretty bloody weird all by itself.

Chuck Bronson as Wild Bill Hickock was already odd casting, and Will Sampson (I think) playing Crazy Horse, as both of them battle a GIANT white buffalo that resembles a cross between "Jaws" and… "Jaws III."

A Dino de Laurentiis production from the late 70's/early 80's, it's just… weird.

Bone Tomahawk was the creepiest movie I've seen in any genre since Quest For Fire.

I'm more of a Valley of Gwangi guy, although I loved The White Buffalo.

There must be something to it as I was a member of the Wapsu Sisilija Lodge in the Order of the Arrow. I was told it meant White Buffalo, but then I was a 13 year old Boy Scout at the time.
