In 1756 a new war broke out between the main European powers. Spain entered the war alongside France in January 1762, with serious consequences for these kingdoms, since the Portuguese were vassals of England and were involved.

At the beginning of January 1762, the frigate armed with 26 cannons Victoria set sail from Cádiz, under the command of lieutenant D. Carlos José de Sarriá, with orders for Governor Cevallos to besiege and take Colonia…"
