"At the time of this writing, the war in Ukraine is approaching its second bloody anniversary, with no definitive end in sight. Two years of fighting. Which is to say about one year and 364 days longer than the average American's attention span. I'd be lying if I told you I was up-to-date on the happenings there. Or in Gaza. Or Yemen. Or Kansas City for that matter. With so much conflict, what's a fella to do? I say this somewhat tongue-in-cheek, of course, but there's truth there.

For most of us, our personal priorities dominate our field of vision. Fortunately, for people like me, there are people like Matt Gallagher in the world. Matt Gallagher is a doer. A goer. A seer (not, like, mystically or anything). You might call him an international man of action. He's a modern-day Hemingway, minus the mustache, alcoholism, and weird cat-thing. An outspoken advocate of U.S. support in Ukraine, Matt's work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Esquire, and The Boston Globe to name a few. But Matt doesn't just talk, he puts his words into action. Since the start of the conflict, Matt has taken at least two trips to Ukraine (that I know of) to help those most vulnerable and to provide a pulse and picture of life on the ground under the grinding boot of war. Now, with global attention waning in recent months, Matt has turned to the tried and true medium of literature to keep focus on the conflict. He does this with his tremendous new novel, Daybreak, released on February 20, 2024…"
