I had, when I was a boy, the original series rifle that could be reconfigured into two pistols and other stuff. Then I got Major Matt Mason, and he had the same rifle! His couldn't be configured, but it put him solidly in the same universe. The rifle looked like this, but this is an actual prop replica, not a toy:
Here's the Major Matt Mason rifle. It looks a lot more like the full-sized version I had:
