I do not have any 3D printed miniatures. I of course do not have a 3D printer. I have been looking around to see what is available for Winter War Finnish troops and found these guys (for which I have absolutely no affiliation): link They look very good, and certainly have some cool things I have never seen anywhere else, but how are they in real life? Has anyone seen them in real life? I only ever tried 3D printing once, but was dissappointed in the results. To be fair that was several years ago. Perhaps they are better now. Also, what is more economical, buying them already printed from someone (ebay or whatever), or buying the files than having someone print them for you? I live about halfway between Reno and Sacramento and have no clue where to go get something printed,if that helps. |

Many community colleges and junior colleges around the country have 3D printing capabilities that are available for little to no fees. Check out the one(s) closest to you. Also check out local high schools. Jim |

Also public libraries, and many will train you on how to use the machines. |

They certainly look good in the photos. I have not seen sculpts looking so tired and worn as those late war Germans since I visited the war memorial in Sidney, Australia. It makes me wonder if there some way to take photographs of actual troops and convert them into 3D printing programs? However, I have never seen these figures in real life. Our local game convention had several companies with 3D printed things like dice towers on display. If you have a local convention, you could stop and talk with the 3D printers to see if they could do 28 mm or 15 mm figures, and that would give you an idea of their abilities and general trustworthiness, as well as their prices. OP If this helps I have numerous customers who send me the files they purchased and I printed them and sent them to them. I keep the files on record but I do not print them as I am not a reseller for them. I imagine many others do the same. If I may? DOBPOD.com |
