My latest blog post is on the start of my Ottoman army for the Khotyn 1621 campaign. You can read about the approach I'm taking for the infantry, including a revised painting technique, here:

Very nice looking unit and informative blog post into your approach and thought process.

Do you find the dry brush/contrast painting style speeds up the process?

Charge The Guns05 Mar 2024 1:57 a.m. PST

Many thanks, Prince Albert! 👍

The zenithal with a dry brush, followed by contrast style, is definitely faster for me. To be really happy though I would want to add another highlight after the contrast. I am holding back from doing this in an attempt to get more figures on to the table faster.

The strength of the dry brush needs some practice and variation.

The question starting to appear is could this approach replace my regular layer and wash method. I expect I will end up with a blend. I would like to have a quick style and a more deliberate style though. Sometimes I want to spend time on figures, and other times I want to paint ‘em faster.

The painting and the basing on these figures are excellent!

Thank you very much, Captain Pete. The painting was an attempt to be "ok" but be done faster than my usual approach, so especially glad you like it. 👍
