Amazing.

I got the AB US '43 Uniform stuff for 1945 Bridge at Remagen type action. I got some Germans too but wasn't that excited by them, the Adler Germans looked much better and more straight forward wargaming poses (as well as walking MG crews that actually matched the set up crews)

I wasn't sure if Adler would mix with AB though.

So I asked around a few places on the internet and everyone insisted Adler and AB mix "just fine".

Excuse me?

My Adler Germans turned up today. Beautiful fantastic miniatures BUT the heads and helmets are at least twice as big as the same in AB!

Has anyone else noticed this? Why do Youtube and blog "experts" all say they "mix just fine??!" Do I have exceptionally high standards? Am I an outlier in thinking AB Americans look like freakish pinheads next to fathead Alfred E Neuman Adler Germans?

Yep. I didn't think they fitted together seamlessly either.

Both ranges are lovely though.

Are Adler the Cherubic looking guys? Or am I thinking AB?
All smiling into the distance?

I always went with SHQ TBH. Literally thousands of them.

Thanks Royston, good to know I'm not the insane one, it's everyone else on the internet.

I'm reading up on german helmet shell sizes now in the hope of justifiably mixing the ranges, still the weapons are a bit chunkier from Adler too : (

Any pictures of both ranges together?

Hope this helps
Note the two Adler Waffen SS have full helmet covers.

Okay I'm looking at that comparison picture and I'd happily mix the two ranges. I don't think one range looks massively bigger than the other range.

I don't think those pics are clear. Trust me it's much more pronounced in real life. I'll try to take a pic with both heads pressed together sooner or later.

Dagwood24 Feb 2024 7:40 a.m. PST

I would use them together.

Dagwood +1. The picture is clear to me. Realistic variation in height, etc. Just like real people, in fact.

I don't know if I'd put the 2 extremes together on a stand but, on the whole, I would mix them as well.

Two thumbs 👍 👍 up to LeonAdler.

Both ranges are excellent.
But its rather unrealistic and a little unfair to expect figures from two ranges [ANY two ranges unless its the same sculptor] to mix together precisely, within the same unit.

In my WW2 forces Ive got AB Adler Elheim and old FAA but in separate platoons. I wouldn't expect any different.

I really like both figure brands and they fit perfect for me, and maybe the heads are bigger for your expectations but u can't forget these are war-games figures and not modeling ones, even AB heads are big for modeling, but I think its about what you're looking for, war-games or modeling.
Maybe you are used to plastic figures and in that case you may be right,

I got both on similar, if not the same recommendations, and I agree, they look weird next to each other up close. As I'm typically 2+ feet above the tabletop, I think they work as long as one only uses like miniatures in a platoon. As I use Adler for Waffen-SS and Market Garden US airborne, and AB has no equivalent ranges, I am not too worried about the dissimilarities.

Finally got a second to take some pics:

It wasn't that I EXPECTED them to mix for NO REASON, I made queries in a lot of places before I bought the Adlers and everyone said "they mix just fine". They don't. Adler on right, AB on left:

I'm not saying Adler are bad, actually if there's one range I'll ditch it will be the ABs but next to AB Adlers look like:

This thread is getting just a little surreal……….

Let me know if you'd like to sell your AB collection, or trade for some things in my inventory. I am a huge AB fan

Why, we've got FAA here so there's no import tax on them and their US paras are very nice as are most of their figures, and a much bigger range

Blacky75029 Mar 2024 10:12 a.m. PST

Adler over AB any day
