I am looking for information on how to paint 15mm Alans and Palmyra uniforms. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

There's a couple of mosaics from Palmyra that look as if they show heroes as cavalry officers – see link A painting from Dura showing the biblical story of Mordechai shows similar colours and has also been interpreted as a Palmyran leader – picture And the horsemen in the Battle of Eben-Ezer fresco at Dura are also sometimes thought to show Palmyran military dress – link – similar colours but without the braiding. Palmyran sculpture shows a lot of heavily decorated clothing, but it's not clear how far down the social scale this would go. Alans are probably anyone's guess – much the same as other steppe nomads, probably. And of course not "uniforms" at all. |
