Dave Arneson was the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons RPG game, back in 1973-4, along with Gary Gygax. Dave ran the original Blackmoor RPG, which morphed into D&D, with the help of Gary Gygax.

I just learned, yesterday, that there is a DaveCon gaming convention, in honor of Dave Arneson, held annually. It appears as though they started it 3-4 years ago. This year's convention will be held in Bloomington, MN, a suburb of St. Paul. It will be held April 26-28, 2024.

There are a number of St. Paul luminaries still alive, who will be attending it: David Wesely (author of the Braunstein game, the first RPG, which inspired Dave Arneson to launch his Blackmoor game -- still running today, with Dave's assistant GM running it!), Mike Carr (TSR alumni), Dave Megarry (author of Dungeon! board game), and other special guests attending, running games, and conducting seminars.

If interested, check it out. Hoping to attend myself, in spite of just learning of it yesterday. Still hoping to make it to GaryCon (annual convention started in 2008, to honor the late Gary Gygax), but looks like this year won't happen due to life getting too busy for it. Cheers!

I hope the show goes great. I met Dave at a number of shows, mainly in Florida. He always bought books or historical board games. Great guys.

Yes Dave was a regular at HMGS-South's Recon and Hurricon. Very unassuming and many folks shocked to learn who he was. Several pleasant conversations with him. Hope the con goes well.
