Does anyone know of sellers of these in the UK? I had a look at Magister Militum /CapAero but they only have them with floats or Albacore. They have to be 1200 or 1250 to fit on a refurbished Airfix HMS Ark Royal.

The Airfix Ark Royal model is 1/600 isn't it?

Yes, but also in theory small but very nice 1/1200 range

Airfix issued both a 1/600 and a 1/1200 HMS Ark Royal. Mine is definitely the 1/1200 one released in the late 1970's and rereleased in the "Sink the Bismarck" set about 12 years ago.

Here's the set and a built model (not mine!).

That set looks cool.

Try this: link

The only thing holding me back on these is the high cost to ship to the US.

I have some of the Cap Aero Swordfish and they are very nice models – very cleanly cast and symmetrical. I've also used 3D printed 1/1250 aircraft and, whilst the detail is great, the ones I've used have been incredibly fragile – it doesn't take much to snap the undercarriage legs off!

I see Noble Knight Games have some Cap Aero Swordfish for sale:

Alternatively, would it be worth just cutting the floats off the ones from Magister Militum?

Whichever you go for, I think it is worth getting some photo-etch propellors. Handy for helicopter tail rotors too.

Thanks very much to all for the comments and suggestions. I'd probably have bought the CapAero float version. However a friend had offered me some 3D ones so I'll try those first.

I was tempted by the Noble Knight ones until I saw the postage- nearly three times the cost of the planes!
