In the French Line Regiments, the Fusilier companies had color-coded pom-poms on their shakos determined by which company they belonged to. Was this the same for the Chasseur companies in Legere regiments? The illustrations I've found all seem to show the chasseurs with green pom-poms. |

As shown, the leger chasseur companies had the same pom pom colours as the fusilier companies in the ligne battalions. |

You learn something every day? I'd always believed that chasseurs all had green pompoms. And that what the Rousselot plates show? |

I have always painted them as green pompoms, think I will continue- nobody has complained. |

The rules weren't always followed to the letter. |

Very much depends on the period – certainly under the Bardin regulations of 1812 pompon colours for Chasseurs were the same as for line Fusiliers; prior to that there was no fixed (or enforced) rule! |

Have now re-read Terry Crowdy's "French Light Infantry 1784-1815" – page 151 … Circular of 9 November 1810 called for greater economy and uniformity, with plumes suppressed and rankers to be issued with woollen houpettes coloured white for staff, red for grenadiers & carabiniers, yellow for voltigeurs and diverse colours for the other companies later confirmed in a circular of 21 February 1811 as dark green for the 1st company, sky blue for the 2nd company, aurore for the 3rd company & violet for the 4th company. |
