J6 was certainly not an insurrection.
First, if it was, it was the first insurrection in history in which the rebels thought they were defending the legitimate government.
Whether you are for them or against them, there is no denying that they thought they were protecting the legitimate government.
Second, insurrection is unrelated to marching into the nation's capital. It's not necessary. It's not part of the definition. George Washington managed a successful insurrection and never got anywhere near London.
Insurrection is about taking land, and declaring it outside of the control of the established government. Like Washington did. Like the Confederates and the Seattle "Autonomous Zone" kids did, for a while. That's insurrection.

Regarding DC police -- again we see unequal enforcement of the law. George Washington University has been invaded by pro-Hamas demonstrators who have taken over the small central "quad" area and surrounding streets and are blocking and disrupting classes, access, and threatening Jewish students. The University has asked the DC police to eject the demonstrators who are causing damage, assaulting people and disrupting the school.

The DC police HAVE REFUSED to enforce the law. They seem to be little more than a Praetorian Guard to enforce the political whims and will of the Mayor of DC.

Congress should revoke DC's Home Rule and take it back under direct management.
