You have to wonder whether someone is really stupid enough to post something like this, or whether this is what Orwell called "agitprop." But I wonder.

A few years back, when I still lived in a nice urban area, I got my life threatened by drug dealers who were trying to find easy areas to hand off their product. When we called the cops, they came- and apologetically told me that they couldn't arrest the perp, because it was no longer a crime to threaten someone. To my great surprise, the cop then proceeded to lecture me about how my vote mattered, and to be aware what I was getting when I voted. But he wasn't done handing out surprises, because he proceeded to give me the address of the house that the car the dealer drove off in was registered to.

I thought then, and I think now, that the country is much closer to some kind of a tipping point than is commonly realized, and I think things like this are moving it closer to some kind of an edge. Once we cross it, I don't know what happens- but I don't think it's going to be good.

Nine Pound, you are not the only one expressing that view. Actually you are the second person to express those exact sentiments today.

Our soldiers were injured in this. Fortunately there was a wall behind the wire. You know those "walls that don't work".

When I came off active duty in the 82nd Airborne, and into a Guard unit, my new colonel was very welcoming, and glad to have someone with recent experience. "Do you have any experience in riot training?" He asked, since they had some concerns about needing that skill set.

"Sir," I said, truthfully, "all I know about riot control is which side the belt goes in, and which side the spent shell casings come out."

They found someone else to give riot training.

And I said, "sovereign citizens, dear."

Yeah you got that right Steve … But I'd have to choose from between my AR-15, .45 or Samuri Sword. However, no matter what I'd have to get the walls cleaned and painted. As well get new carpeting afterwards. If they made it thru the door … Shooting them outside is a much easier clean up. As in the article.

Seems Elon Musk was not wrong.

"The Local Resident Voting Rights Act, passed by the D.C. Council in October 2022, states that if a noncitizen is otherwise qualified to vote, they can do so in local elections so long as they have resided in Washington, D.C., for at least 30 days. It also permits noncitizen residents to run for D.C. government offices and serve on the city's Board of Elections, according to court documents."

Duh! They are NOT citizens! In most cases "illegal"! How is this even questionable.

NY tried it and was stopped. Pretty sure they have done this in West Coast towns too. They keep taking baby steps, until they get their ultimate goal. That seems to be the pattern. What happens "when" like thinker's obtain control of all the courts?

So the day after they pass their spending bill and on a Saturday, they announce this. How typical and normal. 😂

Now who do they pick to determine "at risk" individuals? 🤔 I am sure it will be totally on the up and up. 🙄

Just 4 days ago:

"— A federal judge in Illinois earlier this month ruled that a Mexican man who was living in the U.S. illegally had a constitutional right to own a firearm for self-defense.

In her ruling, U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman dismissed charges against Heriberto Carbajal-Flores, who was arrested in 2020 for violating a federal law that prohibits undocumented immigrants from possessing guns."

So the it's ok for an "illegal" to own firearms, but the justice system will determine if "you" have the same right. Sure, I trust the justice system to do this totally fairly and without bias and agenda. 🙄

They don't want it to end. One must consider why would anyone want this amount of poorly educated illegals in a country in such a short time. I discard that this many low paid are for "jobs Americans refuse to do". 10 million known illegals since 2020, you cannot assimilate them.

"Every Democratic lawmaker in the Senate voted against an amendment that would bar taxpayer funds from being used to fly illegal aliens to U.S. towns and cities, according to the Republican senator behind the amendment.

"Tonight every single Senate Democrat voted against my amendment that would stop Biden Admin from using taxpayer dollars to charter flights for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from their countries directly to American towns to be resettled," Republic"

BenFromBrooklyn25 Mar 2024 7:16 a.m. PST

"jobs Americans refuse to do"
The missing critical piece of that thought is "at the wages illegal immigrants are willing to accept".

I have been around the country, and I have seen Americans willing to do all the work illegal immigrants do. But not for the same wages. Illegals are willing to accept dirt cheap survival wages.

This is by design. The government will not stop them coming in, but the government, the very same government that practically invites them, makes it illegal to hire them. This forces them to desperation. They MUST take off the books gray market jobs, because nothing else is available. And employers know it. When you have lots of desperate people, you can be… selective.

This is a bizarre policy in which the political compromise between "Keep them out!" and "Give them rights" is "Let them in but don't let them have rights" which is actually WORSE than either of the extremes. If we were actually trying to create a criminal underclass, this is exactly how we would do it. "Lets import millions of desperate poor people then keep them out of the regular economy". Bleeped texting brilliant.

The sad thing is that they want to work, and they do.

SBminisguy25 Mar 2024 7:23 a.m. PST

BenFromBrooklyn +! -- plus, even if the illegals here get legal status, they will lose their carppy job to the next poor person from Oaxaca. See, legal status means they have to be paid minimum wage and worker's comp, so they'll be out the door in a heartbeat replaced by the next plantation-system worker here illegally.

Not only do we need to seal the border and do "return to sender," but bring the hammer down on companies hiring illegals…like Tyson Food, eh?

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP27 Mar 2024 8:51 a.m. PST

I know many including myself, have tried to express the danger many feel about the open border and flood of illegals and potential terrorism or sabotage by foreign agents infiltrating our open border. That threat is all too real. Also the inability for our country to assimilate such a flood of illegals in such a short time. IMO, impossible. Not forgetting the crime that would never had happened, if not for our uncontrolled borders.

But there is the cost. A cost that we taxpayers and our children and grandchildren just cannot sustain. A cost that overrides any offsetting benefits of so many illegals. A cost that also discourages the illegals from becoming productive members of society. Of course I speak of giveaways. Making the illegals dependent pawns of the government. Our current national debt is 34.6 TRILLION DOLLARS and climbing like ants to an open jar of honey.

Now the Governor of NY proposes:

"New York Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul has proposed $2.4 USD billion in spending for migrants in her latest budget proposal, along with plans to spur residential development in a state with some of the highest rent and home prices in the country.

The Democrat suggested an additional $2.4 USD billion for migrant care in addition to the $1.9 USD billion the state spent in 2023, according to Politico."

I always love how they say "state spent". The BLOODY State, like the Federal government, has NO money. They only have what they take from others, then spend like sailors on leave. I apologize to all sailors, I'm sure they spend money more wisely.

Nine, Legion, SB all true as we all have pointed out on numerous posts and links. I personally believe the cheap labor is just a veneer. You don't give people all the freebies that they are being given, if you really wanted them to work. You give them the freebies, if you are attempting to create a dependent class, who become more dependent with each generation. A group who relies on the " generosity" of a party for their well being and in exchange trade their votes. "Bread and Circuses". Why not, they have done the same before and still do.

I'm hoping it goes no deeper than that, but I have read much on the web that take the reasons deeper and are much scarier, (obviously terrorism being only one). I hope those people are wrong.

But no matter, what is happening is obviously bad enough. Debt, crime, drugs, additional taxes. All unnecessary.

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP28 Mar 2024 6:14 a.m. PST

To continue the above, obviously they want this to continue.

"Texas' plans to arrest migrants suspected of illegally entering the U.S. will remain on hold under a federal appeals court order that likely prevents enforcement of Republican Gov. Greg Abbott's new immigration law until a broader decision on whether it is legal.

The 2-1 ruling late Tuesday is the second time a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has put a temporary hold on the the Texas law. It follows a confusing few hours last week the Supreme Court allowed the law to take effect, setting off anger and anticipation along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In Tuesday's order, Chief Judge Priscilla Richman cited a 2012 Supreme Court decision that struck down portions of a strict Arizona immigration law, including arrest power. The Texas law is considered by opponents to be the most dramatic attempt by a state to police immigration since that Arizona law.

"For nearly 150 years, the Supreme Court has held that the power to control immigration — the entry, admission, and removal of noncitizens — is exclusively a federal power," wrote Richman, an appointee of Republican President George W. Bush."

But we know the Federal Government is doing nothing! If it stops them, it hands out a court appearance date, at some date long in the future. Long after they have dropped anchor babies and it's too late to ever return them(which was never the plan anyway).

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP28 Mar 2024 8:47 a.m. PST

Cheap labor is always something businesses look for. But I think this in the big picture it is more about giving the illegal aliens the right to vote in National Elections. Rewrite, change the demographics, etc.

Had you heard this, I have not, till now? I knew tens of thousands had crossed our border, but had not heard of the base infiltrations. Shouldn't we all know about this?

"There have been more than 100 instances in which U.S. military bases were infiltrated by Chinese nationals over the last several years.

Chinese nationals posing as 'tourists' wandered onto a missile launch site in New Mexico, according to a Wall Street Journal report last year.

Others staged as scuba divers in order to get close to a Florida rocket launch site, and another group claimed to be staying on an Army base in Alaska.

The operatives have reportedly claimed to be tourists who are 'lost' and unable to find their way to a Burger King or McDonalds coincidentally close to a U.S. military base.

Government officials say that Chinese nationals are often 'pressed into service' and required to report their findings back to the Chinese government.

According to the report, the FBI, Defense Department and other agencies have been aware of the infiltrations and have held summits in order to address the problem. "

Yes, I have heard it. 37,000 Chinese caught at the border last year. Their numbers increasing. They are not all spies of course, but nobody knows. People are leaving China. Per CBS news, many of them find out how to get in through the southern border from – TikTok.

And it's not only the border. Remember the woman who got into Maralago with her electronic spy gear? Your article also sites other military base incidents in 2019, and it probably goes back many years. And the Chinese techie college student who arrived in 2013, even was in the Army Reserves, got into the US defense industry, and recruited a spy network?

Students, business execs, visiting scientists….and Chinese government security people posing as legitimate visitors. The FBI is not just doing summits to address the issue. They have been in the field catching these people for years, also monitoring cell towers, infrastructure, airports, land purchases, etc. We even got a Chinese career intelligence officers extradited from Belgium, now doing 20 years here.

But the Chinese government is obsessed with spying, they try to flood us with operatives and infiltrate at any level they can. We cannot keep up, obviously, with the border, and nothing will get done there before the election.

Here is a summary of Chinese espionage in the US since 2000. It helps show how relentless they are. Obsessed is my word for it.

The Chinses as usual are getting away with murder so to speak like their big white balloon crossing West to East before it was shot down. Again, being late has become SOP for US leadership.

One must consider every illegal alien from the PRC/CCP as a spy or some sort of threat. Just because a Chinese family crosses the border, that does not mean they are suspect. A family is good cover for spies.

If 37,000 is an accurate number, and it is probably more, no one leaves the PRC without the CCP's "consent" AFAIK. That large number is about 3-4 Light Divs worth …

Again is our gov't allowing this to happen to appease the CCP ? Like the balloon incursion ? Or again are our leaders being risk adverse and fearing escalation again … still …?

There is no place to put the blame on this but one location … 'nuff said ..

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP30 Mar 2024 1:19 p.m. PST

I am sure the number is larger. 37,000 that we know of, roughly.

The Chinese government is tightening the rules for leaving but people can still get out. It's called the "Run Movement" in China…people looking for a better economy or political freedom. Chinese ex-pats are getting together outside to speak out about the draconian life in China. But Xi is closing the door.the Runners head for South America, you don't need a visa to land in Ecuador. Then they make their way to the southern border. They are also going to Canada.

But the spy problem is huge. And theft. You can blame every POTUS this century. All hat, no cattle. But it's really an enforcement issue to me. More border agents, stricter DAs. Detain and vet, deport as needed. No Congress has done anything about this. They are the bottom line. They have the purse strings. But they are missing certain qualities, shall we say. Both sides. The current edition is definitely in the nuff said category.

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP31 Mar 2024 5:54 a.m. PST

Again Musk was not wrong. Always "undocumented", avoid "illegal". Orwell would be so proud.

"As the Biden Administration considers executive actions on the border, the letter outlines recommendations for executive actions to streamline immigration relief for the undocumented population and DACA holders in the United States.

"We urge your Administration to take all available actions to streamline pathways to lawful status for undocumented immigrants, providing certainty to the American businesses, communities, and families who rely on them," wrote the Senators."

"Specifically, the letter:

Recommends that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) create a process to protect and unify American families;

Calls for executive action to permit spouses of Americans to work while their green card cases are pending;

Encourages action to streamline the process for DACA holders to change to a nonimmigrant status; and
Recommends that the Administration modernize cancellation of removal rules to keep family caregivers together and issue a regulation that a group of Senators encouraged last year."

"He seemed to express frustration at the legal limits of his authority to act unilaterally." Referencing Biden in the article. He can do certain things, but not enough to fix very much.

And that's the problem…the ability to make any substantial change happen is usually connected to funding and there is only so much stop gap manipulation a POTUS can do. If you have a massive increase in the size of the problem, but not the resources, you can call for action all you want. Nothing gets thru the House, even the everyday legislative functions are a challenge there these days.

Homeland – how to create a process to protect and unify American families? I would argue that we have been protected relatively well since 9/11, the core mission is terrorism. But now we see danger. More threats means we need more personnel. POTUS has no authority to make that happen except by rearranging some deck chairs. He has been asking, finally, since last year. Not a chance – because of the election no fix is coming. That said, POTUS has not enforced the law regarding illegal entry and let this slide until the issue became to big for him to do anything.

You cannot give Homeland a directive to create a process to unify. I worked for the government. The executive works under statutory requirements with legal interpretive guidelines for implementation in the field. So, back to Congress to provide this.

The real issue is providing unity to restore governance in Congress and the White House. But since division is the main political election strategy, it is not feasible.

Yes, word meanings have been altered. And illegal aliens are what we are dealing with. I thought there could be a compromise, but maybe it's just the wrong way to go.

"Democratic Party"became the Democrat party for some not in the party.. It sounds like an awkward and angry change after so long. Which it is meant to be.

American progress and "progressive" are confusing. Why is progress negative now instead of a source of pride? As it always has been until recently.

"Woke"was once a symbol of awareness, as opposed to being "asleep." Now we tack it on to any cultural change we don't like, and make it a symbol of negative overreach. We cancelled the original meaning and made it about all cultural changes. I am afraid of the new woke taking over. Sometimes. Because I am old and want to hold on to values that I think might be threatened.

From a semantic point of view, these words are now very different. From a cultural view they have become symbolic flashpoints. The new meanings have been drilled into us. 1984 indeed.

I don't think I agree on deporting Chinese government officials to Taiwan. Why give them a head start on their invasion? 😉

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP01 Apr 2024 7:44 a.m. PST

I agree with all you say. IIRC, Taiwan purchased billions of $ of US equipment. That has still not been delivered AFAIK. It should be there by now.

But is it a supply problem, as the US has not made enough and/or has other priorities ?

Or is it the US leadership once again being risk adverse and fears escalation ? Which has been their SOP, unfortunately. As they don't want to upset Xi, etc. ?

If we did deport the 37,000+ illegal alien Chinese to Taiwan, some may defect, some may have to be put in their version of Gitmo or some may want a ticket back to China. But yes, they could be "the 5th Column" ! Regardless that was hyperbole on my part ! Taiwan probably does not want them either !

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP01 Apr 2024 8:38 a.m. PST

I thought this appropriate since we are talking about words, meanings and "1984".

"The United States' top intelligence agency wants to ban its spies from using "biased language," including the terms "radical Islamists" and "jihadist," saying these words "are hurtful to Muslim-Americans and detrimentally impact our efforts as they bolster extremist rhetoric," according to a language guide published internally.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), which is responsible for handling the country's spy apparatus, seeks to ban a range of common terms because it says they offend Muslims and foment racism against employees. In addition to terms describing Islamic terrorists, ODNI instructs employees to avoid phrases such as "blacklisted," "cakewalk," "brown bag," "grandfathered," and "sanity check."
"Blacklisted," for instance, "implies black is bad and white is good," while "cakewalk" is said to refer "to a dance performed by slaves for slave owners on plantation grounds." "Brown bag," a term most often used to describe a paper bag that holds one's lunch, actually "refers to the 'brown bag' test practices in the 20th century within the African American community," according to ODNI, which outlined these terms in an internal magazine produced by the agency's Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility."

🙄 YCMTSU
I guess we will have to keep this in mind when we use the word illegals… OPPS… I mean "Newcomers", right?

These words are still used in normal conversation by people who have no clue they are insulting anyone and no have intention to do so. Their meanings are commonly understood, especially when used in context as they almost always are. I may be old and out of the loop, but I have never heard of these words having racial meanings. Just nuts…

I learned a long time ago not to insult people you are investigating. You just make more work for yourself and alienate the neighborhood. That said, we did discuss things like this, but never needed this kind of dumbed down directive. You just keep up with the lingo and stay professional. You don't need to have your agency admin. act like a bunch of posers trying to look good in public. In the end, the minions will use common sense and ignore nonsense from above.

The supply chain to Taiwan should have been cleared up by now. Last years aid package to Taiwan was the largest ever, including giving drawdown authority to Biden and expedited paperwork and shipping. The pandemic, then Ukraine made this more complex than it already is, but the deals should run smoother now.

Hmmm…so the Biden Admin has cancelled purchases of oil to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve that he drained to try and influence the 2022 elections…

SBminisguy03 Apr 2024 12:48 p.m. PST

…just another factor that leaves us vulnerable to any disruption.

Even if he were to refill it, the US taxpayers will be paying today's inflated prices to replace oil purchased at previously lower prices. Just another increase in the multi trillion dollar debt. But yes he should replenish it, he emptied it. It should not fall to the next administration.

The FBI says we may get hit by islamic terrorists. So why is the border still wide open ? I hope they are trying to hunt down some of the illegal alien and question them about this.

Dunno, maybe they see political profit in chaos?

That could be one of reasons. But also businesses like cheap labor. There are illegal alien children working in US factories. Literally working for peanuts. For one example …

However, our Southern Border crisis is one of the top issues for voters. And not only the cheap labor aspect comes into play. But sex trafficking and drug coming across the. There is a lot of $ to be had. And many Americans want both of those "items". But there are some Americans who think it is for humanitarian reasons. We allow millions of illegal aliens in.

And it is clear, the border could be shut down in a very short amount of time. Even if it took the US Military. And LEOs with Military assistance could start mass deportations if given the order. Yes, certain parts of the US population would fight that. As sanctuary cities, states, etc. would have to follow the law.

I think some of you will find this interesting. Not surprising, but interesting.

The RNC may be a bit biased.😉 I am perfectly happy to wait for oil prices to go down.

I am not surprised that fewer people wanted to immigrate to the US during Trump's term. But I don't think people come here for the presidents.

Legion +1. If you saw today's job numbers, the economy keeps humming along and looking for labor. It's just one factor in the big picture, like demand for illegal drugs.

In the 19th century, Britain and others pushed opium on the Chinese and created a huge addict population there. When the Chinese tried to prohibit the trade, Britain used military force to extract concessions from them. Now maybe the Chinese have turned the tables on the west.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve was *never* meant to be used by some political twit to try and lower gas prices to influence an election. The word "Strategic" tells you the SPR is supposed to be an EMERGENCY reserve we can tap when the SHTF and our energy supplies are seriously disrupted. Just as it should never have been drained for short term political gain, neither should restocking it be subject to waiting for better prices that you can't predict.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP05 Apr 2024 6:28 p.m. PST

No, that's true, but I think we can survive it.

Funds for the border have been held up so that another politician can grab election benefits from the chaos for short term political gain. It's just what they all do.
