The millions of illegal aliens are and will continue to be a real problem/threat for the USA. Those in charge are letting it happen. Closing the border and mass deportation of military age males from many nations would be a real good start. But if this starts there may some real push back from the activists, etc. in the US Gov't, etc. Again, the USA has a large leadership deficit. And many negatives have occurred at home and worldwide because of it.

It seems whoever has the most $ wins an election. And once voted in those elected officials are beholden to those that gave them $ to get elected. I don't think this is what the USA's Founding Fathers envisioned.

And it is not just those in very high positions. But as we see many DAs, judges, etc. Somehow the system got broken.

If you care about the border, this is how you are portrayed by MSNBC and other MSM. Especially if you are voting Republican in the next election. Listen to Maddow disparage the whole state of West Virginia. I can only imagine if a conservative said anything like this.

Russians, Ukrainians, Serbians, Chinese, actually millions who are NOT black or brown are coming across the borders. And she was worried about West Virginians coming to Virginia???

It is security and safety from crime we care about. No vetting. We have no idea who's here. Not to mention the billions in cost! This is NOT racial. We are all for legal immigrants. Also allowing illegals to count in the census was wrong and adversely affects the election process in our country.

Well as we see … many in the media and society see racism everywhere. If everything is racist than nothing is racist … With somewhere around 140-160 nations having illegal aliens crossing the US border of all colors, races, religions, etc. But that does not fit the narrative and agenda that many in the media, DC, etc. want everyone to believe.

I get it but it's redundant and misleading,IMO it makes it sound as if the LEOs let these guys walk around after committing these crimes. We have spent decades trying to undo these layers and overlaps so we don't stand around wondering whose turn is it to do what next. I know she doesn't mean that but that's what it sounds like. Where are the funds for background investigations, detention facilities. deportation, equipment tracing, personnel? Try reading some crime stats as well. They all could have done this on their last vacation. If this is a crisis, then act like it.

Stop campaigning and grandstanding – those 12,000 new border agents Biden asked for last year could have been there by now. As badly as the border has been handled, this party has no business claiming the high ground while it sits on its hands month after month. Pass a real bill with logistical support and make POTUS do his job. I know the elephant in the room has said no win on this for Biden. The "right stuff" seems to have disappeared altogether.

Tort I'm missing something. This would have helped to elevate crime and get rid of illegals committing crimes. So the bill "was trying to do something". Why would Durban oppose it? This type of law would have "probably" prevented the deaths of Laken Riley, Root and many others. The illegals who killed both, had committed previous crimes. As did the brother of the illegal who killed Laken. Always not prosecuted or released.

The Senate bill was a boondoggle that guaranteed nothing but money going to Ukraine and taxpayers paying for more border patrol to process illegals over the border faster. Every other thing it did, had giant loopholes allowing the administration to ignore or override the rules. You have to work at it if you search for the reasons, using Google or other search engines. It takes way too much bloody time and rewording of searches to get the information. Mostly MSM crap comes up with initial searches which talk about everything but the actual wording of the bill and the loopholes. You and others may disagree, but that is the way of true discussions. I respect your opinions but obviously disagree at times.😉

I made a prediction a week or 2 ago, maybe this thread or another. In tonight's state of the union, the POTUS will talk about issuing NEW executive orders about controlling the border's. He will also claim the other party stands in his way, led by "the Evil Orange Man" 😈. Remember he claimed he needed Congress to give him the necessary power to do anything (that was .. 💩). He had no issues, issuing at least 5 executive orders within 1 week of entering office that did away with Trump controls on the border, including stay in Mexico and the border wall. So if you can issue executive orders, taking away protections, you can obviously issue executive orders protecting the border.

So let's see if I'm a a prophet. 😉

Lastly, I did give reasons as to why I believe the crime rates have decreased having to do with the reduction in level of certain crimes, so misdemeanors reduced to no crime at all, and felonies reduced to misdemeanors. Also sanctuary cities hiding some of the crimes committed by illegals.

I agree that we differ! 😆 But that's okay.

My thinking is different but we are essentially differing on the methodology, not the closing of the border. And my reply is nothing personal, it just reflects a different take. Here goes…

Trump knows perfectly well, despite his memory issues, that a President does not have the legal authority to close the border for this group of people because he lost two different court cases on it when he tried it. These are not the same category of immigrants as banning Muslims holding visas, for example. This requires Congress to actually work together on revision, which Trump is not about to allow. If he were different he would jump in and do everything he could to get this ball rolling and take the credit, not let it burn down for a year. He would win easily the election if he did something like this.

The deportation trigger numbers, based on daily encounter figures on the border, in the bill were also misrepresented by the right. Exceeding the max number resulted in automatic detention and deportation, below that detention and processing.

Whatever the details, there is nothing harder to swallow for me than party first politics. It should be that every effort to fix this now should be made. The answer lies in rewriting a compromise bill fixing the whole thing ASAP with bi partisan support. Both sides must give. That would likely include Ukraine. Biden gave Johnson/McCarthy much of what they wanted already.

This is how it works, how it was meant to work. It's not a game of election payback or Congressional job security. There is work to do that should have been done years ago. Immigration reform by compromise. We don't have time for any more games from either side. Let the right put whatever they want in there and hash it out. There are more than enough votes to pass a bill. The Speaker will not bring it to the floor.

We can readily fix the border and still not give Ukraine to Putin. The latest atrocity figures there from the ICC are worse than the scope of what Israel experienced. One group of children is worth less than another? 20,000 young kids hauled backed to Russia that we even know about. Not to mention the ones who aren't alive anymore. And nobody should be inviting an aggressor to roll a NATO country just because they miss the two per cent goal. Does Article 5 ring a bell? Or are we just pulling out?

There is a direct correlation between the end of the pandemic and the lower crime rates, most chiefs will tell you. Reporting of crimes stats to the FBI by certain states may not be complete also. In general crime is likely down, but it never goes away. Crack gets replaced by meth gets replaced by fentanyl variants. Endless cycle. Murders are not always committed by immigrants, most are not. We have led the world in incarceration for a long time. I don't know the answer.

I am no liberal. I am no conservative. There are a lot of independents. Middle ground is were the immediate answers are IMO.

SBminisguy07 Mar 2024 1:33 p.m. PST

One group of children is worth less than another?

In the Real World? Yes. Familial ties matter. National ties matter. If two children face the same threat of death and you can only save one -- and one is a stranger and one you child, you will save your child. You save your niece over another stranger child. You will save your neighbor's child over a stranger's child. That's the way people work.

100,000 Americans die every year from the Fetanyl flooding over our open unsecured border with Mexico – this includes 15,000 children per year. So if Putin's crimes include 20,000 kidnapped kids in three years, Biden's crimes include 45,000 DEAD American kids in the same time period.

Border Security is not tied to Immigration reform. We can do one without the other, just like you can hang a new more secure door at the front entrance of your house without having to also paint your house.

Trump knows perfectly well, despite his memory issues, that a President does not have the legal authority to close the border for this group of people because he lost two different court cases on it when he tried it.

Hand waves. Meaningless puff of air from your lips. Trump secured the border as much as possible in the face of united Democrat opposition who were aided by GOP Establishment politicians who want open borders for cheap plantation labor. He did repair existing wall and build new wall, his remain in Mexico reduced illegal immigration flows. His policies resulted in the lowest illegal immigration rate in FORTY YEARS. And under Biden, who deliberately undid all of Trump's border security policies and then has actively enable and encouraged mass illegal immigration we see the HIGHEST rate off illegal border crossings in AMERICAN HISTORY.

Whatever the details, there is nothing harder to swallow for me than party first politics. It should be that every effort to fix this now should be made. The answer lies in rewriting a compromise bill fixing the whole thing ASAP with bi partisan support. Both sides must give. That would likely include Ukraine. Immigration reform by compromise. We don't have time for any more games from either side. Let the right put whatever they want in there and hash it out. There are more than enough votes to pass a bill. The Speaker will not bring it to the floor.

Because it's a BAD BILL that essentially legalizes millions of illegal aliens and enables even MORE illegal migration flows. I'd rather have nothing than that.

So stop a minute and step back from the political cover game you're playing -- because while you pretend to eschew partisan politics you are very much a defender of the Democrats and their leadership. Ask yourself who gains by the "compromise" bill? Do the American people gain by legalizing millions of border crossing unknown law breakers? Or do political party and corporate interests benefit?

The problem is easy to fix. Simple. Shut the border down. Deport known illegal aliens. Punish companies that use illegal plantation labor.

No compromise bill is needed. We need a SINGLE issue bill on Border Security and a SINGLE issue bill on Ukraine, and so on. This relatively modern practice of poison pill legislation and "omnibus" spending bills is political bullsh1tt3ry designed to coerce support for unpopular bills by combining them with more popular bills.

"Diego Ibarra, 29, was arrested for carrying a fake green card that he used to get a job at the University of Georgia — the same campus where his 22-year-old brother, Jose, is accused of murdering Riley while she was out for a run.

Prosecutors say Diego appears to be affiliated with the Tren de Aragua gang, known as TdA, based on his tattoos, attire and use of gang signs in social media pictures.

The gang was described in court docs as being responsible for "recent violent confrontations with law enforcement and civilian victims in New York and elsewhere throughout the United States."

That allegedly includes a string of violent phone robberies in New York City, where moped-driving members are accused of being those seen dragging victims to the ground to snatch their devices."

I heard that Venezuela was emptying their prisons and sending them to our border. That was denied in 2022, but I've heard recently that the DHS has confirmed that that is the case recently.

We are not getting the best and brightest.

Meanwhile in NYC:

"New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced plans Wednesday to send the National Guard to the New York City subway system to help police search passengers' bags for weapons, following a series of high-profile crimes on city trains.

Hochul, a Democrat, said she will deploy 750 members of the National Guard to the subways to assist the New York Police Department with bag searches at entrances to busy train stations. "For people who are thinking about bringing a gun or knife on the subway, at least this creates a deterrent effect."

Does not seem that crime is really going down, when you are mobilizing the National Guard to fight it. 🤔

Really, SB? Who benefits if we don't do a @#$&*@# thing? Cause that's the plan…. I got no use for Dems – per yer own CS Lewis quote. I do get weary of not even trying to see a bigger picture. I am just as much of a cynic as you in some ways. I just don't believe in unilateral support for one guy. Or blame.

In the this century the most annual opioid deaths occurred under Trump each year of his term – until the pandemic hit and consumption went through the roof. Where was the cause and effect with the border then when everything was going so great? Drug abuse doesn't depend only on the border. I have seen a LOT of victims. I feel as bad as anybody for these families. But a million dead since 2000… that has got to get pounded into our brains. A lot of those kids died from meth from Kentucky, Iowa, NYS. Or most every other state.

Both sides need each other. The vast majority of people in this country are sick of this topic and want it fixed now. There is literally only one way to make a dent in this IMO. Which is just as valid as yours SB!!

The border needs to shut down, at the very least for a time period that lets us reorg. Give Ukraine the money in return, attach strings. Set time limits for everything.

I would be happy with a single bill. I would love it if your big man came through and allowed it to happen. But i5 won't work anyway without compromise. Poison pill bills are clearly NOT compromise bills. A compromise bill gives something to both sides…and us. A poison pill means one side takes a bullet. This does not work.

Yes, the US Gov't are covertly flying in illegal aliens into the USA. These illegals won't be counted in the CPBs numbers. The last a heard there 320,000 illegals aliens that entered the US by these covert air insertions.
The plan to flood the USA with illegal aliens from 160s nations around the world. Some progressives, etc. must give a lot of money to support these insertions, NGOs support that is not from a religious organization, etc. but still exist to take care of illegals. Where did that $ come from ?

All I can think of[as well as many others] the planners of this crisis are playing the long game. E.g. in the near future somehow, these illegals will be given the right to vote in national elections. As well as their numbers will be counted by the census. AFAIK that could affect the numbers for the House & Senate, etc. that are based on the population of certain regions, etc.

And yes, this will fundamentally change the USA. And not for the better. With millions and millions of people that got here illegally.

"The U.S. House of Representatives passed the "Laken Riley Act" on Thursday, a bill that would require federal officials to arrest illegal immigrants who have been charged with theft in the United States.

By a vote of 251-170, the House approved the bill that is named after Laken Riley, the 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was brutally murdered allegedly by an illegal immigrant while she was out for a run last month. All voting Republicans and 37 Democrats helped pass the bill while 170 Democrats voted against it.

"170 House Democrats just voted against the Laken Riley Act, refusing to require the detention and deportation of illegal immigrants who have been caught committing a crime," Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) posted to X. "Sadly, if these Democrats have their way, there will be more victims like Laken Riley."
In particular, the "Laken Riley Act" would "require the Secretary of Homeland Security to take into custody aliens who have been charged in the United States with theft, and for other purposes."

"IT'S OFFICIAL: The Laken Riley Act has passed the House of Representatives on a bipartisan basis. 37 Democrats joined all Republicans in support of this bill and condemning Joe Biden's handling of our southern border!" said Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), who introduced the legislation. "I now urge the Senate to take up this bill immediately. Please help us ensure justice for Laken and give ICE more tools to detain and deport criminal illegal aliens before they commit more serious crimes."

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) suggested to Fox News that most Democrats opposed the legislation over concerns about the "rights" of illegal immigrants who are taken into custody. "To have
someone detained without that due process, I think is un-American," he said.
Riley's suspected murderer, 26-year-old Venezuelan Jose Ibarra, was reportedly let go after being detained at the southern border due to a lack of space at the detention center. He was then arrested in New York in August 2023 after he was caught driving an unregistered car with a 5-year-old inside. According to a police report, a few months later, Ibarra and his brother Diego allegedly stole food and clothing from a Walmart in Athens, Georgia. They were both given a citation for misdemeanor shoplifting and let go.

The "Laken Riley Act" would also give the attorney general of a state or another authorized state officer standing to bring an action against the U.S. attorney general or secretary of Homeland Security "alleging an action or decision by the Attorney General or Secretary of Homeland Security under this section to release any alien or grant bond or parole to any alien that harms such State or its residents …"
"

I doubt it passes the senate. 😔

I don't get what happened in this case with the NY and Georgia LEOs. And if every state sent in crime stats on guys like this they would have been in the FBI data base just for illegal entry. But we know the system is not working on a number of levels.
The courts stopped Trump because of the ways the laws were written.

At this point I just have to throw in the towel on any effective legislation or action. It will be months before enforcement gets interpretive guidelines about how to comply with this bill, how to enforce it, or where these people go in the system. Prisons are part of Justice, not Homeland. Any money for the new facilities this will require? Bringing state actions against the feds deters and prevents nothing, since feds don't want citizens killed either and are not criminals.

Legion, I am begging you…which I would not normally do. Do some research. There is no covert air invasion. Lots of press photos. We know exactly who these people are, they are vetted and sponsored immigrants caught up early in the title 42 Covid regs. Unbelievable what happens with alternate facts from the fear factory. Air insertions? Parachutes?
I need to be done here. There are no discussions, no answers on this one way street. Meaningless puffs of air? I think you don't need any more of these from me or any one else.

Here is some hand waving. 👋🏼👋🏼

Legion, I am begging you…which I would not normally do. Do some research. There is no covert air invasion.

Semi-secret. A not-announced program which the Biden team basically kept hushed, which you'd usually call "secret," and then when they got bad PR they finally "clarified" that "Working within its authorities, the Admin has expanded lawful pathways for orderly and humane migration. Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans have a U.S. sponsor and are thoroughly screened before being authorized to travel to the U.S

They don't dispute the numbers. They don't dispute flying people into the US. They only say they changed some rules around to make it "lawful."

link

Daily Mail says this migrant flow was enabled by The State department and also involved chartered flights of "lawful" migrants into 43+ cities in the US.

link

The Center for Immigration Studies has more details here, and a follow-on article in which the AP tried, and failed to debunk this:

Government Admission: Biden Parole Flights Create Security ‘Vulnerabilities' at U.S. Airports
DHS won't say which airports are receiving inadmissible aliens from abroad

Thanks to an ongoing Center for Immigration Studies Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, the public now knows that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has approved secretive flights that last year alone ferried hundreds of thousands of inadmissible aliens from foreign airports into some 43 American ones over the past year, all pre-approved on a cell phone app. (See links to prior CIS reports at the end of this post.)

The Biden administration's legally dubious program to fly inadmissible aliens over the border and directly to U.S. airports has allegedly created law enforcement vulnerabilities too grave to release publicly.
But while large immigrant-receiving cities and media lay blame for the influx on Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott's busing program, CBP has withheld from the Center – and apparently will not disclose – the names of the 43 U.S. airports that have received 320,000 inadmissible aliens from January through December 2023, nor the foreign airports from which they departed. The agency's lawyers have cited a general "law enforcement exception" without elaborating – until recently – on how releasing airport locations would harm public safety beyond citing "the sensitivity of the information."

"The courts stopped Trump because of the ways the laws were written."

They went to court because they were challenged (by whom?😉). If stopping illegal immigration should be the aim of all, why would they challenge him at every avenue? 🤔 Maybe some people and groups want those illegals. Again who appointed those judges who ruled against him? One of the things challenged over and over and over, was the border wall. Is it any wonder it never got far? What was wrong with the wall? What was unconstitutional? Where are all those wall supplies paid for by the taxpayers? Rusting on the ground in border states. Why? Because on day 1, the current POTUS issued an executive order ending it. Again why?

Well obviously i will not get my book in the Bible as a prophet. POTUS did not announce any executive order to close the border last night. I am actually disappointed he did not. 😔

Well no need to beg, I'm not that important. old fart However, some of the research I have done says otherwise. Of course,
I guess I could have done more research. But like many things going in the USA, we don't know what a fact or a lie is. Everybody has an agenda to support their narrative, etc. We may never know the truth ? Or what is the truth ?

Both SB and OVI have basically said what I have said about this. So ? What I do know for pretty much a fact. There are waaay too many illegal aliens roaming around the US. Some are criminals of all types. Some in DC and the media say that is racist, xenophobic, White supremacist talk, etc.

But as I have said before. It has 0 to do with racism, etc. It is a matter of logistics and national defense. But some just don't get that.

"Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 902,000 migrants who illegally crossed into the United States between ports of entry during the first five months of this fiscal year. This is down slightly from the same period in FY23 and up by nearly 12 percent over FY22's year-to-date numbers.

Between October 1, 2023, and February 29, 2024, Border Patrol agents apprehended 902,113 migrants who illegally crossed the border between ports of entry. This is roughly on par with the pace of 903,693 migrants apprehended during the same period in FY23. During the first five months of the record-shattering FY22, agents apprehended only 806,299 before continuing to more than 2.2 million migrant apprehensions for the entire year.

Due to a combination of factors, apprehensions in the five Texas-based border sectors fell from nearly 561,000 during the first five months of FY23 to nearly 407,000 in FY24 (down nearly 28 percent). These factors include increased border enforcement by the State of Texas with Operation Lone Star and aggressive efforts in Mexico to remove migrants from its northern border and move them to central and southern Mexico."

Huh -- now the West Point Military academy has removed ‘Duty, Honor, Country' from its mission statement and replaced with a vague commitment to fuzzy "Army Values."

So we'll add hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to the Military to make up for horrible recruitment levels because of DEI policies and discrimination, and then stop teaching Army officers that their highest loyalty is not to Duty, Honor and Country but to the Army…when have we seen that before in history and how well did that turn out?

If they had wrapped Douglas MacArthur in wire before they buried him, he'd be powering a small city right now.

At one level, yeah, woke, at another level this is the logical end of a process that began when someone thought, "We should send Westmoreland to Harvard Business School- that will prepare him to win our next war."

This does not seem wise to be doing.

"The Department of Homeland Security has guided over 130,000 illegal immigrants from gang-ravaged Haiti into dozens of unidentified American cities, but it won't say where.

Many of the 133,000 arrived in just one city that the Biden administration won't identify, according to a federal report reviewed by the Center for Immigration Studies."

That like many other things the woke, DEI, CRT/1619, progressives, etc. do. This is another abomination …

How can the Officers of the US ARMY allow this ? Maybe some of them think this was a good idea. God, I hope not …

Legion I saw this too. So much anymore, it's hard to follow it all and stay up on it all. But there is agenda and reason behind it all. Not one you and I agree with, but there is an agenda and reason.

Ahhh…and here's part of the game, isn't it? Plantation labor for "Jobs Americans Won't Do." But if course, they would do if they pay wasn't sht and the conditions sht..,but that would cut into Tyson's profit margin I guess…

Tyson Foods wants to hire 52,000 asylum seekers for factory jobs
The food processing company wants to hire migrants who are arriving in New York for jobs Americans don't want.

Yes that is becoming more and more clear. And it isn't good.

but that would cut into Tyson's profit margin I guess…
Yes, that is one reason why the border is still wide open. Some big business funds elections … and in turn they get cheap labor. Of course, that is not the only reason for the open border … and they ain't good either …

Not just another 9/11 we have to worry about.

See the Aztec and Mayan religions have never left the indigenous populations of Mexico and Central America. They just call them by different names now, but the blood sacrifices are the same. Now we have let them into our country too. (Illegally). 😔

"Illegal migrant from Lebanon caught at border admitted he's a Hezbollah terrorist hoping ‘to make a bomb' — and was headed for NY

Ebbadi said in a sworn interview after his arrest that he had trained with Hezbollah for seven years and served as an active member guarding weapons locations for another four years, the documents show.

Ebbadi's training focused on "jihad" and killing people "that was not Muslim," he said.

Border agents continue to see a surge in migrants whose names appear on the terror watchlist entering the US illegally as crossings continue at record levels."

🤔
The Supreme Court allows Texas to send them back. But Mexico now says "No". But Mexico allowed them to come to our border. Both the administration and the Mexicans say sending them back is inhumane. Does this not smell?

"But Mexico's government said Tuesday it would not "under any circumstances" accept the return of any migrants to its territory from the state of Texas. Mexico is not required to accept deportations of anyone except Mexican citizens.

It condemned the Texas law being allowed to take effect, saying it would criminalize migrants and lead to the separation of families, discrimination and racial profiling. The government said it would put its position before the appeals court next considering the law.

"Mexico rejects any measure that allows state or local authorities to handle immigration control, detain or return nationals or foreigners to Mexican territory," the Foreign Affairs ministry said in a statement."

Ahh Mexico, they were "criminals" when they crossed our border. These people come from everywhere, how can this be racism? If they are not Mexican, then let them precede back to the country of their origin They got here, so they can get back……. Or did some countries help them get here?

Sadly, we know it has little to do with being humanitarians … Like the PRC/CCP those that support open borders are in it for the long game. As they believe somehow, some way, in the future these illegal aliens will get to vote in national elections.

But again, it has nothing to do with racism … it's about logistics and also as important national security …

The logistics situation only gets worse when illegal aliens give birth. Literally more mouths to feed … If there are e.g. 8 million illegal aliens here that number will increase with their babies being born … So, 8 million could be another 500,000 or a million or more …

Who feeds all these illegal aliens ?

Where do they live ?

Who provides medical care, schooling, etc., etc.

The taxpayers' $s do …

SBminisguy20 Mar 2024 9:58 a.m. PST

Well, Tyson foods just fired 1200 workers at the same time it wants to get the Federal Government to let them hire thousands of illegals. At some point you can lower costs and wages so much that you don't have a large consumer pool left!
