" When Warlord released their epic Napoleonic range I decided that at last I had a reasonable opportunity to achieve one of my bucket list dreams of doing the 1815 campaign in a way that would still look good on the table but didn't require a huge investment or a major painting commitment…"

Very nice indeed. However, it should be noted that there were no dragoons present as due to a mix up in orders only the Cuirassier element made it to the battlefield. The Guard lancers were under strict instructions not to get involved after their skirmish on the 15th. I really enjoyed researching and re fighting this battle in great detail. Mike Robinson book is very English centric but has great maps. Andrew Field is excellent. Thomas Stoneys paintings done days after the event are illuminating. Best wishes, Chris |

Hi, yes I read the blog which is what made me comment. This was an encounter battle that if Wellingtons initial orders were obeyed, to abandon Quatre Bras, might have lost the Allies the campaign. Personally, I think that if you are going to wargame it then only the original terrain and units should be involved. There was a post recently where the Scots greys and Polish lancers were in full flow. Another wargame extended the crossroads area to fit the troops in. It's just a personal opinion and as long as people are enjoying themselves that is really what matters. Best wishes, Chris |
